The Training and Development Coordinator is responsible for the effective coordination and administration of onboarding and training programs aimed at enhancing the skills and performance of employees. Reporting to the Training and Development Supervisor, the coordinator will work to identify training needs, organizing and scheduling training sessions, and ensuring the smooth execution of all training initiatives. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills, contributing to the overall success of HOM’s training and development objectives. The Training and Development Coordinator is a non-exempt position.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Learning & Development
- Collaboratively work with the Training and Development Supervisor in the design, planning, and implementation of HOM’s internal training strategy to meet the organization’s needs.
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
- Use known educational principles and stay up to date on new training methods and techniques.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance assessments.
- Report on training metrics and suggest improvements based on findings.
- Maintains advanced knowledge and skills through continuous education opportunities.
- Schedule and coordinate training sessions, workshops, and seminars.
- Communicate training schedules and details to participants and trainers.
- Ensure training rooms, materials, and equipment are prepared and available.
New Hire Onboarding
- Schedule calendar appointments for new hires to mirror the training plan, include links, documents, or any other necessary information or instruction.
- Coordinate and communicate changes to the training plans needed.
- Support onboarding training for new hires, and new hire orientations as necessary.
- Notify management of the new hire’s training progress, including status of course completion.
Learning Management Systems (LMS) & Internal Knowledge Base
- Assist with the development of courses utilizing the e-learning authoring tools
- Upload courses and maintain updated curriculum in LMS.
- Assign and track completion of courses in LMS, reviewing with management as needed.
- Maintain training records in employee profiles.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the internal knowledge base.
Review and Audit Duties
- Review and audit new unit move-ins to ensure full compliance with federal, state, local and programs rules and requirements in the determination of and calculation of income and rental assistance for both total tenant payment (TTP) and housing assistance payments (HAP) to landlords.
- Review and audit interim, annual, and EOP actions to ensure full compliance with federal, state, local and programs rules and requirements.
- Review and document deficiencies and coordinate with Program Supervisors to determine training and quality control response.
Essential Skills
- Proven work experience as a trainer, instructor, or other applicable affordable housing industry work.
- Adequate knowledge of requirements for HUD occupancy requirements of subsidized housing programs.
- Strong understanding and knowledge of AZ Residential Landlord & Tenant Act.
- Ability to communicate effectively with management and other departments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, Planner, Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
- Advanced organizational skills with aptitude for project management and multitasking to manage multiple concurrent assignments.
- Ability to present and maintain professional interactions with team members, community organizations and partner organizations via written, verbal and in-person communications.
- Strong sense of ownership of work processes and outcomes.
- Ability to work well with a wide range of personalities.
- Ability to think strategically and tactically to accomplish goals.

Other Skills and Requirements
- Team Member will have unrestricted access to sensitive information that may include PII and PHI, which requires adherence to HOM Security and Privacy Policies.
- Team Member may use or disclose PII or PHI through their duties listed above. All use and disclosure are subject to procedures outlined in Section 1.10 of the HOM Privacy Policies.
- Complete the PI assessment and participate in training and implementation around this tool.
- Demonstration of performance and attributes contained within the four (4) focus areas of HOM Inc.’s Competency Model shown below, Emotional Intelligence, Expertise, Ethics, and Excellence.
- Willingness to perform duties as needed or as assigned.
Education and Training
- Understanding and commitment to “Housing First” principles in ending homelessness.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in learning and development at an organizational level.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the assisted housing industry, property management, homeless services, project management, or other similar setting preferred.
- Industry certifications or ability to obtain within (1) one year of hire.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associates and/or bachelor’s degree preferred.
