Description

 The GIS and Data Intelligence Specialist works on the Location Content and Analytics team to manage projects that support our online locational data platform. This role offers our clients extra analysis, visualization, and insights of our data. The GIS and Data Intelligence Specialist should have experience across multiple mapping platforms, with a high proficiency in platforms such as ESRI. The ideal candidate will be able to manage data coming in from various sources and file types and be able to use GIS and other analytics tools/research methodologies to support market analysis and retail real estate strategy efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze and extract findings from retail, demographic and other relevant data through GIS and other analytics tools, including the REI and related platforms
  • Ability to create retail models and analogs
  • Support the research and development of new GIS processes, models, tools and reporting capabilities
  • Research and compile data for analysis 
  • Manage and maintain GIS data accuracy
  • Contact external parties (retailers, municipalities, etc.) to confirm the accuracy of retail activity data and obtain other valuable insights
  • Create ad-hoc reports and maps as requested 
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years hands-on experience in GIS and cartography, preferably business and/or real estate-focused
  • Degree in GIS, Geospatial Intelligence or Geography preferred
  • Licenses or certification in GIS preferred
  • Proficient with ESRI, QGIS or other GIS applications
  • Solid understanding in GIS programming; ability to customize and automate GIS tools and processes
  • Strong Proficiency in Excel (and other Microsoft Office tools) 
  • Experience handling “big data”
  • Proficient with statistics
  • Experience/familiarity with Locational Data (ideal) 
  • Familiarity with spatial demographic data
  • Strong analytical and research skills, with ability to design creative solutions to identify insights, obtain information and communicate findings
  • Ability to operate independently while adhering to specific objectives and company vision
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple complex projects simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Passionate about GIS Analysis and using maps to tell a story
  • Desire to be a collaborator and team player and advocate 
  • Ability to be self-motivated and proactive
  • Strong problem-solving skills 
  • Highly flexible; ability to quickly shift focus to new projects and adapt to new methodologies 
  • Excellent written and oral communication


*Candidate must be prepared to submit examples of a portfolio of GIS analysis, modeling and mapping that best represents their work. Candidate must also be prepared to discuss how the examples lead to a positive outcome utilizing their analysis
