Controls and Behaviors Engineer

Ghost Robotics is the industry leader in legged robotic systems that not only help our customers solve complex operational, national security, and technical challenges to save lives, reduce harm and improve outcomes. 


This position will be reporting to the Head, Controls & Behaviors and will be working closely with a fast-moving team delivering next-generation legged robotic solutions for defense, homeland, public safety and enterprise customers worldwide. We are looking for a candidate who is self-motivated, knowledgeable, has a solid work ethic, can learn quickly and execute under demanding timelines. There is a strong growth opportunity as the company expands. 


Key Duties

  • Development, improvement and implementation of behavior algorithms enabling perception-aided locomotion over structured and unstructured terrain.
  • Develop testing infrastructure for both simulation and physical robots.
  • Responsible for field testing, behavior development and operational safety behaviors
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Minimum Experience

  • At least three years of related work experience preferred at an established integration firm or research laboratory.
  • Strong background in one or more of the following: control, state-estimation, perception, optimization, or machine learning.
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra.
  • Ability to understand and write quality C++ code.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with internal and external customers under stressful environments.

Additional Experience a Plus:

  • Working with robotics and mechatronic systems.
  • Experience writing and testing algorithms on physical hardware with real-time constraints.
  • Experience working with under-actuated systems.
  • Solid foundation in kinematics and dynamics.

Minimum Education

  • Ph.D or Ph.D candidate in Engineering, Software, Math, Physics, or related field. Exceptional candidates holding a master or bachelor level degree will be considered if they have strong, demonstrated work experience.

Location 

Philadelphia, PA (no remote candidates considered at this time). 


Travel 

None required, but domestic and international opportunities exist if the candidate is interested.
