Job Summary

Turn your passion for conservation and community into meaningful action—while fostering fun along the way! As our Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in our mission of helping families divert millions of pounds of building materials from landfills. Our Materials Reuse program makes it easy for people to improve their homes (and save money) by accepting donated building materials and reselling them at affordable prices. We’re seeking a skilled communicator and detail-oriented planner to lead an exciting volunteer program while amplifying our conservation impact. In this role, you’ll recruit, orient, onboard, schedule, and train our Materials Reuse volunteers, ensuring they feel inspired and empowered to make a difference. Additional duties include but are not limited to: present updates and achievements of the volunteer program, suggest and implement program improvements, design and lead large group volunteer events, and share the Materials Reuse program through community outreach and engagement. Bilingual skills are a plus, and a friendly, fun attitude is a must!


This is a part-time role with the majority of work being on-site at our vibrant Materials Reuse facility. The compensation range is from $22-$27 an hour and Resource Central offers a competitive benefits package and excellent growth opportunities for career-minded candidates. Benefits are prorated for part-time employment starting at 24 hours a week.
 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be a Community Ambassador: Organize engaging outreach activities that highlight the amazing benefits of our Materials Reuse program—both on-site and out in the community.
  • Recruit & Inspire Volunteers: Attract and engage passionate volunteers who want to make a difference to enhance the reuse program’s service levels and grow our conservation impact. Interview volunteer candidates, assess candidate’s skills, and assign roles.
  • Curate a Fun Work Environment: Create a lively, mission-focused atmosphere where volunteers feel appreciated and excited to contribute.
  • Celebrate Achievements: Incorporate fun ways to recognize volunteer milestones and contributions.
  • Lead the Way: Conduct inspiring orientations and group onboarding sessions, setting the stage for volunteers to thrive in their roles.
  • Proactive Scheduling: Keep the volunteer calendar full and dynamic, ensuring everyone has a role to play in our conservation efforts.
  • Empower Through Training: Provide hands-on training and support, while also encouraging program leaders to step up and lead sessions.
  • Invest in Success: Set clear volunteer role expectations and close the loop by providing regular feedback.
  • Stay Connected: Maintain open communication with program leaders to keep everyone in the loop about recruiting, scheduling, and program needs.
  • Think Creatively to Grow Impact: Suggest and implement volunteer program improvements. Present program updates and achievements to organization leaders and the greater community.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience training and leading teams of volunteers.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing volunteer events.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Friendly and fun attitude.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in nonprofit administration/management, environmental studies, resource management or related field.
  • Bilingual preferred. 
  • Management level experience.
  • Experience with managing scheduling software.

Salary Description
$22-$27 an hour
