We are a vibrant, growing parish seeking a full-time Director of Accounting who is a strong servant leader with the ability to work creatively in a fast-paced environment. The Director of Accounting will use this position to strengthen and uphold the Pastor’s vision and become an effective member of the Saint William staff. 


 Job Summary:  As a key adviser to the Pastor and COO on all financial and business-related aspects of Saint William Catholic Church, the Director of Accounting is responsible for leading and overseeing the financial policies and direction for the church including, but not limited to: budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, financial administration, and financial planning. These functions must be performed in such a manner as to enable the financial success of Saint William and to ensure the parish is a good steward of the financial gifts entrusted to them. This leadership is guided by the necessary approvals from the Pastor and COO, in conjunction with the Diocesan accounting and internal control procedures, and the Parish finance council. 


Essential Job Duties:

· Prepare and manage payroll as needed (bi-weekly and monthly)

· Prepare annual budgets and annual financial reporting to the parishioners, staff, and Diocese

· Submit monthly, quarterly, and year-to-date financial reports and analyses for review by the Pastor and Finance Council

· Submit timely required Diocese reports

· Monitor the cash flow of the Parish

· Responsible for preparing and monitoring staff, department, and ministry budgets for conformance to the overall approved budget

· Makes timely deposits

· Monitor and reconcile monthly Parish and auxiliary bank accounts

· Serve as parish Liaison to Diocese CFO‘s office

· Coordinate and attend Finance Council meetings and other committee meetings as needed

· Supervise and support the counting of weekly collections

· Supervise, train, and support the bookkeeper.

· Responsible for the internal bookkeeping and payroll functions, including general ledger, payables, receivables, etc. 

· Responsible for personal files and resources

· Responsible for collection counting and volunteer money counters and reconciliation of all receipts

· Manage systems and procedures for online giving, counting processes, and security of cash among the staff

· Review and monitor invoices before payment to ensure receipt of materials or services and conformity to policy, budget, and policies

· Establish and maintain effective internal controls over the financial resources and assets of the parish

· Ensures that all taxes are paid in conformance with regulations

· Manages all vendor relationships and financial documents 

· Prepares all financial reports, as needed

· Assist and support the COO with HR paperwork and processes

· Filling and maintaining the files

· Is an effective leader for all staff 

· Work with ministry leaders on managing ministry accounts

· An effective member of the Saint William Executive Team

· All other duties, as assigned.

· Daily 30-minute prayer time.

Requirements

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Demonstrated excellence in managing finance, accounting, budgeting, and controls

· Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills 

· Highly skilled in QuickBooks, Microsoft Office

· Strong computer skills to learn and use new software not limited to Ministry Platform and Paylocity

· Embrace change

· Excellent communication skills – verbal and written

· Ability to see and work within the bigger financial picture of the organization

· Ability to effectively manage and supervise team members


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field from an accredited American college or university (or equivalent in a foreign country). 

Experience:

  • Accounting experience in a for-profit or nonprofit      organization

Language:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)      preferred, but not required

Catholic Requirement:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license.
