Principal Software Engineer

AdaptX is searching for a Principal Software Engineer. This person will directly impact the success of our products through significant contributions on the Engineering team. They will have a strong sense of customer advocacy, be highly collaborative, think critically and creatively, and share their perspectives in formal and informal settings. They will thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance AdaptX’s codebase
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and solve them appropriately
  • Deliver clean maintainable code with adequate unit tests
  • Engineer for maximum speed and scalability
  • Resolve technical issues through research and creativity
  • Design and implement complex backend systems to a high standard
  • Mentor engineers on distributed systems design and implementation, event driven systems, and observability
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure software designs meet requirements
  • Identify and fix bugs that are found within code
  • Work closely with product management and design to define feature requirements and write code to that materially impact product success
  • Work collaboratively with other team members
  • Document work appropriately

Key Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of experience designing, implementing and evolving large scale distributed systems
  • Experience with Python, Java, Kotlin and/or Go
  • Strong understanding of engineering concepts used in distributed systems, including microservice, reactive and event-driven architectures and distributed tracing
  • Experience with Graph Database Systems and NoSQL platforms is a significant bonus
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to seek clarification and making design 
  • choices as appropriate
  • Naturally curious and comfortable using data to drive decisions
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Strong ability to resolve multiple, complex issues in creative and effective ways
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across all levels of an organization
  • Strong ability to operate within a dynamic, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous 
  • environment
  • Strong ability to anticipate and understand customer needs and opportunities
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

130,000 - 160,000 Depending on Experience
