About the Firm
Foreman Friedman, P.A. is a boutique litigation firm in downtown Miami representing major cruise lines, shipping companies, and international insurers in complex admiralty and maritime matters before the U.S. District Court and Florida state courts. We are seeking an experienced Paralegal to join our team.
Position Overview
The Paralegal will provide substantive litigation support to attorneys across an active caseload of maritime defense matters, managing cases from inception through trial in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage maritime case files from start to finish, including document organization and production
- Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and correspondence
- Schedule and coordinate IMEs and CMEs with medical experts, ensuring timely completion
- Develop and maintain comprehensive records logs of key case events and medical records
- Coordinate with third-party medical records providers to obtain documents accurately and on time
- Assist with trial preparation including exhibit organization, witness coordination, and trial binders
- Prepare, file, serve, and track subpoenas for medical records, depositions, and other documents
- Communicate with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, and third parties
- Track deadlines and maintain litigation calendars in compliance with local court rules
- Manage case files in Clio and Microsoft 365
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of paralegal experience in a litigation setting; maritime or admiralty defense experience strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate from an accredited program preferred
- Proficiency in Clio and Microsoft 365
- Familiarity with maritime laws, regulations, and defense strategies a plus
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Must be located in or able to relocate to Miami, FL 33131 prior to start date
