SUMMARY: The Vintage Movie Posters department is looking for a detail-oriented Cataloger to research and create descriptions for incoming consignment material for auction. This includes writing descriptions for print and online catalogs, focusing on collectible film materials such as vintage posters, lobby cards, and more.

COMPENSATION: Commensurate based on experience
 

LOCATION: South of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, NW corner of W. Airport Freeway (Hwy. 183) and Valley View Lane
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research and write accurate catalog descriptions for vintage posters, lobby cards, photos, and related film promotional materials for auctions.
  • Use research tools to gather and verify factual information for catalog descriptions.
  • Proof and edit descriptions and review accompanying images for catalog production.
  • Prioritize lots based on value, determining the appropriate length and detail of each description.
  • Assist potential bidders by answering questions about auction lots.
  • Assist with auctions as necessary and travel for trade shows as needed.
  • Lift boxes of materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, major in English or History a plus
  • Experience working in the Movie Poster trade and/or an auction house is also a plus

 SKILLS & ABILITIES: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to follow established standards, and excellent multitasking skills.
  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities to meet tight deadlines.
  • Eagerness to learn and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills—concise, accurate, and thorough.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during busy auction periods.
