Job Summary:

The Early Childhood Development Center (ECDC) Afterschool Caregiver assists the ECDC Director and Afterschool Lead Teacher in providing high quality care and education for the whole child's physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental development. You will also work with the Director in partnering with, and supporting, the child's family in a loving, faith-filled community. Afterschool hours are Monday-Friday, 3-6 p.m.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Plan afterschool care activities in coordination with the ECDC Director.
  • Ensure the safety of the children by following all St. Louis Catholic Church and School, and State of Texas regulations, regarding childcare.
  • Model appropriate play and interaction for children, by interacting in their play with them.
  • Communicate daily with families regarding activities, upcoming events, their child's progress, etc.
  • Maintain supervision of children in your care 100% of the time.
  • Sit with children at snack time, modeling proper table manners.
  • Model Catholic values by example of lifestyle, respect of all people, charity to all, leading age-appropriate prayers.
  • Respect the confidentiality of staff, children, and families.
  • Complete 30 hours per year of continuing education.
  • Other duties as directed by ECDC Director.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Education and Training:

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • CDA credential is a plus.

Experience:

  • Experience working with children preferred.
  • Experience in a Montessori environment is a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Valid Texas driver's license or Government issued ID
  • Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout the employment period.
  • Must be able to pass an extensive criminal background check.

Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the parish (St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas) which the Bishop has entrusted to him. He makes Christ's mission present and enduring int he parish. In order to fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or laypeople). He shares with them his mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Positions employed at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and School - Austin, Texas help to extend the ministry of the Pastor in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore, the employee in this position is closely connected to, and assists the Pastor in, the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.

Working Conditions:

  • All employees of the parish are engaged in ministry and closely tied to the Pastor in the exercise of his ministry and obligations to the church.
  • The parish is an at-will employer.
  • All buildings and vehicles owned by the parish are tobacco free.
  • Working in a fast-paced environment with priorities and plans that may change rapidly.
  • May be required to engage in religious ceremonies, conduct, and speech including Catholic prayer and liturgical celebrations.
  • Will be required to adhere to established dress codes and conduct standards.
  • Traveling within and outside the parish to meetings and other events may be required, and travel may include overnight lodging.
Salary Description
$15-17/hour
