About Operation Food Search: 

Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search is a hunger relief organization that provides food, nutrition education and innovative programs in order to reduce food insecurity and increase equitable access to food. We serve 200,000 people every month through a network of 330 partners in 25 counties in Missouri and Illinois. We use a combination of immediate food assistance and supportive services, while also working on long-term solutions and systemic changes to help solve the problem of hunger.

Position Summary: 

The St. Louis MetroMarket is a mobile farmers market that travels to areas in the region where neighbors have limited access to nutritious food. With the help of several strategic partners, the food is sold at below-market prices, and SNAP benefits are also accepted, making the shopping experience much more affordable. 

Reporting to the COO, the Senior Manager will work with other team members to accomplish the goals articulated in the organization's strategic plan. The Senior Manager will be intimately involved in every aspect of organizational management, including administration, development and fundraising, strategy, program management, finance, collaborative partnerships, hiring and public relations. This will require diverse skill sets, the ability to think creatively, and comfort in a fast-paced, unstructured environment. 



Essential Functions:  

  • Development 
  • Manage the fundraising and development activities of MetroMarket, including grant writing, individual donor cultivation, events, corporate engagement, and fee-for-service contracts. Work with the OFS Development team to execute MetroMarket’s development plan. 
  • Partnerships 
  • Coordinate the ongoing development of relationships with MetroMarket’s network of community and corporate partners, including peer nonprofit organizations, funders and foundations, corporate sponsors, grocery suppliers, political leaders, and neighborhood groups. 
  • Finance 
  • Work with Chief Financial Officer to formulate and execute an annual budget, manage organizational purchasing decisions, and assist with routine bookkeeping. 
  • Public Relations 
  • Serve as the public face of MetroMarket, stewarding our mission and articulating our vision at public events and forums, at meetings with stakeholders, and on air with media outlets. 
Requirements

 Education and/or Experience: 

  • Previous experience in non-profit management is strongly encouraged. 



Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Five (5) years’ experience in fundraising/development is required. 
  • Be a strong, competent, creative leader, with the ability to work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced, loosely structured work environment. 
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of, passion for, and commitment to the mission of MetroMarket. 
  • Have an engaging, positive, versatile personality, and an ability to work harmoniously with others. 
  • Experience with multicultural workforce, and sensitivity and appreciation of cultural differences are required. 



Special Requirements: 

  • Occasional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences 
  • Flexibility in working hours for occasional special events after-hours or weekend activities 
  • Willingness to volunteer for other OFS duties that don’t fall under regular job duties 



Working Conditions and Physical Demands: 

  • Sedentary inside office work with limited exposure to weather conditions.

Salary Description
$58,700 - $73,400
