The Escondido Public Library is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a full time 40 hour Library Associate 2 in the Youth Services department. In this role, you will assist in providing engaging library services and programs to children and teens in the community. As a Library Associate 2, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on young library patrons' reading and learning experiences.
Hours per week: 40
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
- Collaborate with Youth Services team to plan and conduct programs and events that promote literacy and creativity
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with finding materials, answering questions, and
recommending age-appropriate resources - Assist with library outreach efforts, including school visits and community partnerships
- Maintain knowledge of current trends and best practices in youth services
- Handle opening and closing responsibilities
- Shelve library materials
- Provide support to the Youth Services team for various projects
- Other duties as assigned
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education,
training and/or work experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience working in a library setting, preferably in youth services
- Passion for working with children and teens
- Knowledge of children's and young adult literature
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in using library information systems and digital resources
- Flexible schedule to accommodate evening and weekend hours
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team

Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
