POSITION TITLE: Agronomy Chemical and Seed Warehouse Operations
POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary function of this position is to assist with chemical and seed warehouse activities and maintenance, help with inventory management and product distribution in an efficient manner, and provide a high level of customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with loading/unloading of chemicals, seed and liquid fertilizer products
- Maintain seed and chemical warehouses and all warehouse equipment
- Help maintain all seed and chemical inventories using proper procurement procedures
- Make delivery tickets in the Agvance and Kahler systems
- Assist with invoicing in Agvance if needed
- Utilize available storage space as efficiently as possible
- Maintain the condition and quality of seed and chemical products
- Apply treatment to seed according to specifications
- Assist customers with pick up of chemicals, seed and liquid fertilizer products
- Be licensed and willing to help with delivery of all agronomy products
- Perform intercompany chemical, seed and liquid fertilizer transfers
- Communicate effectively with agronomy department staff to ensure adequate inventory is available for prompt service and delivery
- Help answer the chemical and seed warehouse phone
- Work with agronomy department staff to resolve customer issues
- Complete all related paper work in a timely manner
- Know and follow all company safety policies/procedures. Perform work in a safe manner while observing all traffic laws and all OSHA state and federal safety regulations
- Comply with all federal and state Department of Transportation regulations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on moving equipment operated. Report all maintenance items to supervisor
- Represent yourself and the cooperative professionally at all times in action and appearance
- Develop and maintain positive work relationships with the agronomy team having a positive attitude that promotes team work within the cooperative
- Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or management
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma
- Must have a valid Class D driver’s license and be an insurable driver in accordance with property and casualty insurance guidelines. A Class A CDL is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to operate blending equipment, loaders, conveyors, tractors and semi’s
- Have availability to work extended hours during peak seasons
- Possess computer and data entry skills
- Must be able to follow directions and effectively communicate with others
- Must have strong time management and leadership skill.
- Agriculture background preferred but not required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Have the ability to lift up to 65lbs.; climb ladders and/or rail cars, stairs, and bins at extended heights; withstand extended periods of walking and standing
- May also be required to work in confined spaces
- Operational areas result in exposure to a variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions. This may also result in exposure to dust, odors, gases, vapors, wet or slick surfaces and loud noises. Where appropriate, wears personal protective equipment (PPE) in compliance with Company standards and governmental regulations
