The Program and Quality Coordinator will work to lead Frost Valley programming initiatives, program progression, as well as focus on safety. This position will focus on data collection and analysis for activities offered through School Programs and Family and Retreats and staff data yearound. Program and Quality Coordinator will focus on programming to keep Frost Valley on the cutting edge of youth programs and development with a focus on year round activities. The Program and Quality Coordinator  will work to ensure that year round activities will be delivered at the highest standards to meet the mission of not only the Department, but the YMCA, the expectations of the staff and customers, all applicable state, county and American Camp Association standards, and the best interests of Frost Valley YMCA.  

Requirements

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Curriculum development including creating written lesson plans for year round activities and camp choice
  • Train staff on Program Quality Standards (PQSs) focusing on specialized activity areas. 
  • During the summer assist with specialty activities for Farm Camp, East Valley Ranch, and Day Camp.
  • Work to ensure this position is in proper compliance with regulations, proper licensing and excellent program delivery in all areas. 
  • Collect and analyze feedback from guests and staff.
  • Assist in the day-to-day running of summer camp programs. 
  • With the Program Quality Team, focus on creating new and innovative activities for Frost Valley’s summer camps and year-round programming, focusing on expanding curriculum in areas of diversity, LGBTQ inclusion, STEM, Frost Valley Core Values and Wellness. 
  • Assist at the local aftercare program one day a week and serve as a sub at the Frost Valley Daycare if need be. 
  • Assist with the care of our raptor center and nature room. 
  • During June-August work 6 days a week and during non summer months work 5 days a week including weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Bachelor’s degree in Youth Development, Education, Outdoor Recreation or a related field 
  • Minimum three years’ experience working with youth in a camp or YMCA setting, at least two years’ proven experience in a leadership/administration/director position 
  • Previous experience supervising resident camps, day camps, and/or recreational programs 
  • Previous experience with program innovation and goal based curriculum development 
  • Preferred experience with waterfront 
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office/Google platform as well as database systems 
  • Possess current First Aid/CPR and Wilderness First Responder certification (certifications can be earned upon hire at Frost Valley) 
  • Preferred experience with high ropes and/or waterfront
  • Excellent communication and organization skills, a strong and reliable leader 
  • Successful working under pressure and safety-minded in decision-making 
  • Available to work evenings and weekends and travel off-site when needed
  • Possess a valid US Driver’s License and be able to pass internal FV driver training 


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust 
  • Employee may be required to traverse on rough terrain 
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

SALARY RANGE:  $33,280 annualized base salary plus $4,320 overtime in the summer for a total of $37,600 plus shared housing
