Indirect/Direct Loan Officer
Description

Role:


To increase the Credit Union's portfolio of loans and other financial services initiated through relationships with auto dealers and other retail businesses capable of extending the Credit Union services to members and potential members. Process and Fund all Applications.


Essential Functions & Responsibilities:


Processing / Funding Applications/ Uses loan authority to underwrite loans as needed to support operations.


Works with Lending Director to call on area dealerships and businesses to establish and maintain indirect lending channels.

 

Our loan officers promote use of Credit Union's loan service and other financial services among dealer/retail network.


Maintains and reports on dealer/retail network activity monthly. Provides explanation for exceptions to plan.


Identifies areas where existing credit union programs can be improved or enhanced. Identifies new market area and product types which can be profitably introduced to dealer/retail network. Develops plans to implement identified actions.


Trains finance personnel at dealerships and within the credit union to ensure everyone is knowledgeable about the program requirements and procedures. 


Monitors program and acts as liaison between the Credit Union and dealer/retail network.

Requirements

Performance Measurements:

  1. Maintain a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily department demands.
  2. Ensure all activities in the department are carried out in compliance with all Federal, State and credit union regulations within prescribed time frames, with zero unresolved errors and no errors that result in losses to the credit union.
  3. Develop and maintain a reputation as a premier partner within the dealer network by visiting dealerships on a regular basis; ensure loans are underwritten within 15 minutes of application.

Knowledge and Skills:


Experience: Two years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A college degree is preferred.

Interpersonal Skills: The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job.
