Communications Coordinator
Description

Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Communications Coordinator will lead the execution of strategic communications initiatives to advance the school’s communications goals. This full-time role requires a proactive leader capable of managing multiple projects, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality content across digital and print platforms.


The School


New Canaan Country School, a Pre-K (age 3) through Grade 9 co-ed, independent day school, currently serves 555 students from diverse backgrounds living in 21 different surrounding towns/cities in Connecticut and New York. Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Communication Execution: Lead the development, creation, and distribution of email communications, including weekly newsletters, quarterly e-newsletters, and bi-weekly admissions updates. 
  • Editorial & Content Calendar Oversight: Manage editorial calendars and communication timelines to ensure consistency and timely execution of key messages.
  • Vendor & Partner Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors, including photographers, videographers, and designers, to ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Project Leadership: Manage and oversee all aspects of print and digital communication projects, ensuring alignment with school goals and timely delivery. Direct internal and external resources to meet project objectives.
  • Multimedia Content Creation: Develop and implement engaging content strategies across social media and other platforms. Produce and manage multimedia content, including photography and video, to enhance the school’s digital presence.
  • Website Management: Oversee content updates on the school’s website, including event registration, Resource Boards, and landing pages. Ensure digital content is current, accurate, and aligned with the school’s brand.
  • Digital Asset Management: Lead the organization and management of the school’s digital asset library, ensuring easy access to logos, photos, videos, and completed projects. Manage the school’s Flickr, YouTube, Linked In and other content accounts.
  • Budget & Financial Oversight: Manage departmental budget responsibilities, including credit card reconciliation, vendor invoicing, and tracking of receipts a well as project budgets.
  • Project Summaries, Presentations, Board Reports: Provide strong, independent support to the Director of Marketing & Communications by managing board reports, project summaries and presentations.
  • Represent the Marketing & Communications Department: Attend regularly occurring meetings involving other departments (Insights and Institutional Data, Admissions, and the NCCS Parents’ Association), and ensure the efficient execution of tasks coming out of those meetings.
  • Support the Director of Marketing & Communications: Provide assistance as needed in support of M&C departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in either an administrative assistant, coordinator or managerial position
  • Experience managing multiple calendars (ie: media calendar, communications calendar, editorial calendar, school calendar, event calendar)
  • Proficient in design and editing platforms, including Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Calendar, Slides, Sheets, Gmail, Contacts)
  • Familiarity with producing digital newsletters considered a plus
  • This position requires some work on Saturdays and outside of regular office hours for special events (ie: Cougar Fest, Frogtown Fair, Community Service Day, Young Alumni Pizza Party, etc). These events are typically annual and always scheduled well in advance.

Salary Description
$65,000-$75,000 based on experience
