In this role, you will:

  • Lead the strategic implementation of company policies, goals, and initiatives specific to the LeSueur location.
  • Oversee work schedules, budgeting, and facility maintenance to ensure smooth operations.
  • Foster teamwork and clear communication to keep everyone aligned with the company's vision.
  • Maximize operational efficiency and profitability by coordinating daily activities.
  • Champion safety by adhering to OSHA, federal, state, and company regulations and assisting with inspections.
  • Manage the facility and equipment maintenance program to keep everything running at peak performance.
  • Build strong relationships with patrons, employees, vendors, and industry partners to create lasting support and loyalty for United Farmers Cooperative.

Major Areas of Accountability


Supervision:

  • Establishes standards of performance for all assigned personnel.
  • Assists that job descriptions for assigned personnel are accurate and up to date.
  • Sees that all assigned personnel are adequately trained to do the job.
  • Resolves conflicts and issues between assigned employees and departments.
  • Makes recommendations to Department Manager to promote, terminate, and grant merit salary adjustments for assigned personnel.
  • Recommends qualified and competent people to Department Manager for addition to staff as necessary.

Facilities/Equipment:

  • Oversees maintenance of assigned location’s facilities and equipment.
  • Oversees housekeeping and dust control.
  • Oversees and enforces that safety is followed in accordance with company and industry standards.

Safety:

  • Responsible for safety according to OSHA, state and federal regulations and assist in any inspections.
  • Works with Safety Manager to oversee compliance and safety programs for LeSueur location

Feed:

  • Responsible for coordinating staff to expedite the feed mixing, delivery and bagging operations.
  • Provide technical assistance to customers and employee’s as needed.
  • Helps support promotions and programs to assist customers in achieving their production profit goals.
  • Assists feed personnel in completing required documentation for production, delivery and bio-security records.
  • Coordinates feed staffing needs with feed operations manager and employee’s involved.
  • Responsible for conducting reviews for assigned feed staff as determined by Feed Division Manager.

Grain:

  • Leads in the proper receiving, weighing, sampling, grading, handling, binning, storing, and loading of incoming and outgoing grain at assigned location. 
  • Coordinates the actual movement of all grains at assigned location.
  • Assures proper grain quality and proper grain handling according to UFC and industry standards.
  • Overseeing the smooth operation of the grain division for assigned location.
  • Openly communicates with lead grain person when dealing with daily/weekly/monthly personnel job transitions, so all tasks are completed on a timely basis companywide.
  • Openly communicates with grain manager regarding any grain personnel issues, operation issues or changes in strategic directions.

Petro 

  • Overseeing the smooth operation of the petroleum division for assigned location.
  • Openly communicates with lead petro person when dealing with daily/weekly/monthly personnel job transitions, so all tasks are completed on a timely basis companywide.
  • Openly communicates with Petroleum manager regarding any petro personnel issues, operation issues or changes in strategic directions.

Sales and Service

  • Supports grain, feed, petro and country store programs along with other related products and services when necessary.
  • Assists customers with unloading and loading whenever necessary.
  • Provides service that will continue to build customer relations.
  • Enforces company credit policy.
  • Assists in resolving customer complaints quickly and fairly in accordance with company policies. Refers unusual situations to the department manager.

Additional Areas of Accountability

  • Is responsible for monitoring inventory levels and purchases for Le Sueur location regarding Feed, Grain, Petroleum and Country Store.
  • Works with staff to develop long and short term goals for the Feed, Grain, Petro & Country Store areas and develops programs to achieve those goals.
  • Participation in departmental, location and company meetings as requested.
  • Performs administrative functions as assigned.
  • Complies with all laws and regulations that apply to the location and company. 
  • Recommend fixed asset purchases to Department Managers.
  • Attends appropriate training sessions as part of programs of continuing education.
  • Maintains required logs, daily truck inspection and other required documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  

Education:

  • Post high school training at the college or vocational level
  • Management or animal nutrition training necessary
  • Experience may be substituted for education

Experience:

  • Feed and grain operations experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Good people skills necessary
  • Basic computer skills mandatory
  • Ag background a plus

Other:

  • Must be in good physical condition capable of lifting, carrying and pushing weights up to 100 pounds and have full use of both arms and legs and both hands. 
  • Must be able to climb stairs, reach above, below and at shoulder level, work on moving machinery, work at unprotected heights with dust, fumes, or gas and in temperature extremes both inside and outside.
  • Be able to drive vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions
  • Must be able to obtain a valid commercial drivers license
  • Pre employment and random drug testing required
  • Must attend all training sessions required by law
