Human Resources Internship
Description

Position Summary: 

  • This is an unpaid Internship that will earn college credit. Program specific. A Human Resources intern is a professional who completes administrative duties for the human resources department of an organization. They assist HR professionals with recruitment, maintain employee records, assist with payroll processing, and provide administrative support to all employees. 

Essential Duties: 

  • Completes administrative duties for the human resources department 
  • Assist HR professionals with recruitment, assist with payroll processing and provide administrative support to all employees 
  • Provides administrative support to the human resource function as needed, including record-keeping, file maintenance and HRIS entry 
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions. 
  • Submits online investigation requests and assists with new-employee background checks. 
  • Reconciles benefits statements. 
  • Conducts audits of payroll, benefits or other HR programs and recommends corrective action. 
  • Assists with processing of terminations. 
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process. 
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process. 
  • Schedules meetings and interviews as requested by the director of HR. 
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions. 
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files. 
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested. 
  • Prepares new-employee files. 
  • Assist with the recruitment of college interns.

Requirements

Education & Experience Requirements: 

  • Actively Enrolled in a Human Resources Program at an Accredited College.  

Skills & Knowledge Required: 

  • High interpersonal awareness and emotional intelligence  
  • High degree of accuracy and organization 
  • Experience with Microsoft office and business collaboration tools 
  • Fluency in English reading, writing, speaking, and listening 
  • Collaboration, effective verbal and written communication, active listening skills, critical thinking skills, strong attention to detail,  
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality 
  • Preferred Skills include: Spanish speaking/reading, Rippling HRIS
