Health Care Without Harm is looking for an English and Spanish-speaking enthusiastic Communications Consultant to join its Global Team and help advance deliverables and coordinate actions.

Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) is an international nongovernmental organization (NGO) dedicated to transforming the healthcare sector into a leader for environmental health and justice. Working globally, HCWH collaborates with healthcare professionals, hospitals, NGOs, governments, and international entities to promote environmentally healthy practices in healthcare. The organization focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of the healthcare sector and acting as a community anchor for sustainability. With regional offices in the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia, a regional team in Latin America and a Global secretariat, and a network of strategic partners across continents, HCWH fosters global and regional collaborations to address climate and health issues, supported by a global team. Its Global Green and Healthy Hospitals (GGHH) network has over 2,000 members in 86 countries who represent the interests of more than 70,000 hospitals and health centers. The network serves as one of the key vehicles through which the organization and its partners engage directly with the health care sector on the ground around the world and supports facilities in their transformation to becoming low carbon, resilient and sustainable.
Consultancy Description
We are looking for a mid-level communications consultant to join Health Care Without Harm’s Global team. The candidate will work with the communications team on different deliverables and projects as requested by the global programs and will collaborate in the project management and amplification of other deliverables.
Deliverables
- Project management: The successful candidate works with the Global Communications Team to manage projects, reports, and products developed by the Global and GGHH Teams. Activities include but are not limited to: following up on projects and deliverables, working with external consultants, keeping track of expenses, invoices, payments, and quotations, and updating and maintaining the trackers and reports as needed.
- Online platforms: Assists in the upload of materials, creation, and edition of pages, templates, and processes, in charge of managing and tracking resources and processes, and works with staff to meet deadlines.
- Articles and storytelling: Produce articles and news for the Global Team's various websites and platforms.
- Collaborates in the follow-up, edition, and review for final sign-off of the different products and projects associated with different teams and projects from the Global Team. Works with the Program Lead and the Communications Team to update the websites accordingly.
- Responsible for creating and managing newsletters and email campaigns for HCWH Global and GGHH.
- Engages with Health Care Without Harm and GGHH Team Members and participates in calls to advance and report on deliverables. Works as a team player by being supportive and contributing to a caring team environment.
- Social media and graphic design: Support the development of messages, graphics.
- Media engagement: Manages and supports media requests, connects with team members to organize interviews, and cultivates relationships with media and journalists.
Qualifications and Competencies
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Passionate about communications, with an eye for detail and branding, can work under tight timelines, short turnaround times, and shifting priorities.
- At least three years of experience in communications, preferably in the NGO or non-profit sectors.
- International/multi-cultural work experience.
- BA or BS degree in Communications / Marketing or related fields or combined experience/education as a substitute.
- Excellent written and oral English and Spanish communication skills.
- Independent: Ability to work virtually and independently, while effectively managing time and tasks, is essential.
- Working hours must overlap with Eastern and Pacific time zones.
- Knowledge and experience with the following programs and platforms are required:
-Adobe Suite, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Canva.
- Drupal and MailChimp.
-Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
- Experience with the following programs and platforms is preferred:
- Moodle
- Meltwater
- Feels comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment.
