Miami Children's Museum is looking for a new Accountant to join their team!


Miami Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, which meets the needs of all children in our multicultural community. The Museum offers interactive exhibits, programs and learning materials related to arts, culture and our community. Miami Children’s Museum encourages visitors of all ages to play, learn, imagine and create together.   


The Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO and controller with the financial operations of the Museum. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage monthly tuition/day care fees, track receivables, and handle delinquent balances for MCM schools.
  • Update and reconcile A/R and deferred revenue schedules.
  • Assist with weekly revenue upload, reconciliation, and daily sales report preparation.
  • Handle cash receipts, receivables, and AP aging reports.
  • Prepare banks for admissions and gift shop operations.
  • Record checks, wires, and accounts payable invoices.
  • Prepare positive pay file for disbursement and client invoices.
  • Manage credit card reconciliations and month-end journal entries.
  • Support grant reports and reconciliations for government and private funding.
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • 3+ years of accounting experience (general ledger, A/R, A/P, journal entries, revenue recognition, reporting).
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required.
  • Proficiency in accrual accounting and US GAAP.
  • Experience with enterprise-level accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Financial Edge preferred).
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills (pivots, charts, database functions, financial formulas).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills; able to collaborate across teams.
  • Non-profit accounting experience preferred, but not required.
