GrowNYC is a 54-year-old environmental nonprofit organization helping more than 3 million New Yorkers by providing essential services and taking action to make NYC a livable city, one where every person can enjoy a healthier, more sustainable life. GrowNYC Programs include: 

  • Our network of Greenmarkets, Farmstands,, and the work of GrowNYC Wholesale ensure that all New Yorkers have access to the freshest, healthiest local food. 
  • We build and support community and school gardens through volunteer days, technical assistance, training, grants and more. 
  • We provide 70,000 children each year with programs that provide meaningful interactions with the natural environment. 

ADVANCEMENT OPERATIONS COORDINATOR (Full-time)

Position Summary

The Advancement Operations Coordinator is a critical member of GrowNYC’s Advancement team who provides administrative support that drives the day-to-day functions of fundraising efforts. They work with the Advancement team to maintain a solid and growing base of support from funders across multiple revenue streams and are responsible for maintaining a high quality of data integrity, timely gift processing, reporting, and vendor relations. 

Requirements

Responsibilities (Include but are not limited to):

  • Manage GrowNYC’s Raiser's Edge (RE) database, ensuring excellent donor data integrity and systems; train and update Advancement Team in RE functionality and best practices 
  • Process gift acknowledgement letters promptly and with attention to detail 
  • Support Individual Giving Lead with personal donor acknowledgement and cultivation for donors giving $100-500 through hand-written notes, emails, and phone calls
  • Create and execute lists and fundraising reports in support of direct marketing campaigns, donor mailings, fundraising data analysis, and special projects as necessary 
  • Develop new reports that aid development efforts in using data to inform its fundraising operations 
  • Maintain segmented donor communication lists based on data from our CRM and email marketing platform 
  • Ensure financial data integrity and reconcile differences between Accounting and Fundraising databases and regularly for tracking receivables and wire transfers.
  • Conduct quarterly wealth screenings of donors using Research Point software 
  • Oversee relationship with vendors related to our donor database, credit card processing, and wealth screening platforms  
  • Execute administrative and scheduling tasks for Director of Advancement, as necessary
  • Support donor cultivation and fundraising events throughout the year 
  • Process vendor invoices for approval in Netsuite 
  • Manage donor renewal letter process and follow up, in collaboration with Individual Giving Lead and Grant writer.
  • Assist with Friends of GrowNYC member inquiries such as changing payment method, canceling donation and ship gifts and hand-written notes to members
  • Seek out and implement ways to improve efficiency in departmental practices 
  • Accurately recording donor pledges in RE, and following up on pledge payments as necessary 
  • Manage GrowNYC’s annual applications to charity assessment organizations like Charity Navigator, Better Business Bureau, and Candid

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 1-2 years’ relevant experience in fundraising operations 
  • Computer savvy and comfortable using data, analytics, and financial reporting to help inform fundraising strategy 
  • Experience with database management; Raiser’s Edge experience preferred
  • Highly organized, superior attention to detail and follow-through
  • Demonstrate initiative, critical thinking, and the ability to anticipate challenges
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace applications
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Capacity to take initiative, be proactive, prioritize duties, and work independently while functioning as a member of a team
  • Creative, energetic thinker, willing to jump in as a team member on diverse efforts
  • Dedication to GrowNYC’s mission
  • Interest in non-profit development work

Physical Requirements

You may occasionally be asked to help table at events, help transport items to events, and lift boxes that weigh less than 35 lbs. 


Schedule

The position is full-time (35-40 hours per week), Monday through Friday, and occasionally on weekends. This hybrid role requires three days in the office (including mandatory office attendance on Wednesdays.)


Compensation

The position is non-exempt and full time with an annual salary range of 55k-60k and includes full benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long-term disability, incentive savings plan, paid time off, Public Service Loan Forgiveness, and potential for parental leave for full-time regular employees who have been employed with GrowNYC for 175 days and FSA programs). The position is non-union-eligible/not part of the bargaining unit.


Location

The main office is located in downtown manhattan. Occasionally you will be working on events and donor cultivation efforts off site.
