About the Role
We’re seeking a Box Office Associate who is dedicated to delivering excellent guest service and working in a fun and exciting environment. Our Box Office Associates provide information, sell tickets to events, work in the concessions stand, answer phones, and serve as a positive first point of contact for our guests. If you are interested in working directly with the public and our guests, having experience working in a fast paced education and entertainment environment, we are interested in hearing from you! Bilingual is a plus!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Box Office:
- Provide ticketing services for admissions, reservations, membership services, and group sales.
- Accept payment and balance register.
- Answer box office phones and assist guests or direct calls to appropriate team member.
- Provide guests information about upcoming events, staying up-to-date on Whitaker Center calendar of events.
- Concessions:
- Take orders, answer questions, and provide information.
- Prepare food and assist with preparation during events.
- Check IDs for age-restricted items, ensure food is safe and high quality, and maintain sanitation standards.
- Accept payment and balance register.
- Keep the area clean and sanitary, and clean multiple times a day.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum High School degree.
- Excellent oral communication skills. Ability to communicate professionally with guests.
- Excellent interpersonal and guest service skills are required. Must enjoy working with families and groups of children.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed, including evenings and weekends, depending on the scheduled program of events.
- Strong attention to detail, organized, and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to make change using small bills and coins.
- Ability to successfully complete a Pennsylvania State Police Clearance, a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance obtained through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and a Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Record Information obtained by submitting a full set of fingerprints to the Pennsylvania State Police or its authorized agent for submission to the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

- Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb stairs frequently, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to understand and obey safety rules and regulations related to all equipment, materials, and chemicals.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with legal requirements.
- Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
EQUIPMENT SKILLS:
1. Technology literate; demonstrated understanding of Google Applications and Microsoft Suite.
2. Ability to learn and use ticketing software and databases. Experience with ticketing software preferred.
3. Must be able to understand and adhere to chemical and equipment safety procedures, including OSHA requirements.
4. Working knowledge of telephone, computer, printer, copier, and calculator.
