Payroll Specialist (Coordinator)

Description
  • Responsible for reviewing and importing employee timecards, reimbursements, etc. into Paylocity Web Pay Solution bi-weekly for over 500 employees (hourly and salaried)
  • Create and produce payroll reconciliation reports each cycle for VP of Finance 
  • Checks figures for accuracy and necessary approvals; processing of manual checks such as discrepancies or late entries; calculate new hire pay, termination pay and any required adjustments to normal pay; processing stop payments or adjustments of payroll
  • Calculate bonuses as requested
  • Reviews payroll documentation for accuracy (computing, withholdings, deductions, etc.) through audit reports and makes any necessary adjustments; obtains necessary approvals from Human Resources 
  • Sorts and distributes payroll checks 
  • Enters data and communicates with the Human Resources to ensure the integrity of the payroll data including data related to new hires, terminations, garnishments, transfers, voluntary deductions, tax and rate changes, etc.; makes updates as necessary
  • Processes special payrolls including bonuses and year-end adjustment payrolls
  • Researches and resolves questions from managers and employees as they relate to the processing of payroll information such as Vacation, PTO, deposits, garnishments, employment verifications, workers compensation, retroactive pay calculations, tax questions and other changes
  • Knowledge of wage and hour laws
  • Strict confidentiality a must
  • Contributing to the HR team by accomplishing additional duties as needed; assist in special projects as assigned by management


Requirements

Skills/Qualifications

  • Experience with payroll systems such as Paylocity (preferred) or others such ADP, Namely, etc.
  • Must have worked with a payroll greater than 500 employees (payroll is for Florida employees only)
  • 2-3 years’ direct experience with fully computerized payroll processing
  • Intermediate / Proficient in Excel and Word (should be comfortable to advance with computer applications in general)
  • Able to maintain highly confidential information
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Able to adhere to tight deadlines - no exceptions and bi-weekly payroll processing
