Support development and maintenance of the library intranet site as a critical member of a significant intergovernmental discovery and access team. The successful candidate coordinates all activities related to the Library Network website, including maintenance, ongoing development and enhancement, and future redesigns and innovations. The person will implement the requirements of the web development team for web content and services. The person will also contribute to the library's outreach activities by designing and creating different digital marketing materials to promote the library's collections and services.
- Manage content on the library's websites (internal site, external site, and library staff site), ensuring that information is current, accurate, consistent, and accessible.
- Conduct usability studies to determine if web services and applications meet user groups' needs.
- Assist with the creation and oversight of web policies and standards and ensure compliance with institutional and library policies on website usage, security, and standards.
- Collaborate with library staff and assist them with developing and implementing new web content and services.
- Participate in the Web Development Team, evaluate and respond to web services support requests, and provide all levels of web-related assistance.
- Assemble, distribute, and evaluate site analytics using Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, or other tools to help with planning across the library’s web presence.
- Manage the library’s LibGuides application and perform periodic quality checks on the LibGuides’ URLs.
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
- Experience with social media and survey tools is desirable.
- Experience in website design, application of web accessibility standards, content management systems, XHTML, HTML, CSS, and text and image editing software
- Knowledge of Web accessibility standards and user-centered design principles.
- Knowledge of usability testing and other ways to evaluate web services.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to write concisely and effectively for the web.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
- Occasionally lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, books, and other materials
