Description
The Pharmacy Cashier supports the daily operations of the pharmacy by providing excellent customer service, assisting pharmacists with clerical tasks, and ensuring a clean and organized work environment. This role involves managing sales transaction responsibilities, answering customer inquiries and aiding in the restocking of over-the-counter supplies.
Requirements
- Customer Service: Greet customers, assist with general inquiries, and direct them to the appropriate pharmacist for specific medication questions.
- Cashier Duties: Process customer purchases accurately, handle cash and card transactions, and maintain balanced cash registers.
- Prescription Assistance: Support pharmacists by locating and organizing completed prescription orders, and verifying patient identification prior to completing a sales transaction.
- Record Keeping: Maintain and update files, records, and documentation as required for compliance and organizational purposes.
- Workplace Maintenance: Ensure the pharmacy area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies; perform basic cleaning tasks as needed.
- Communication: Answer phone calls, handle basic customer questions, and take messages for the pharmacy staff as needed.
- Compliance: Adhere to all pharmacy protocols, HIPAA regulations, and safety standards.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous customer service or cashier experience preferred; experience in a healthcare or pharmacy setting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and inventory.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
