Electrician
Description

Plan layout, install, and repair wiring, electrical fixtures and control equipment such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, using hand tools and power tools, according to customer specifications as indicated on custom engineered designs and drawings.


Job Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities 

  • Measure, cut, bend, assemble and install electrical conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender.
  • Pull wire through conduit, assisted by electrical helper.
  • Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with customer specifications and electrical codes.
  • Work from ladders, lifts and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.
  • Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others
  • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments.
  • Coordinate projects and assign work to electrical helpers, ensuring all installations are completed according to specifications and in time frame specified for customer.
  • Train electrical helpers and apprentices in appropriate electrical equipment, installation and safety procedures.
  • Keep materials and work area clean, organized and free from clutter, or any potential safety hazards.
  • Install power in buildings when needed to accommodate customer inspections and requests.
  • Ensure all materials and equipment are organized, used and stored properly.
  • Lock up, secure buildings, seal up for potential weather problems.  
  • Prepare buildings for shipment.
  • Perform additional duties as requested.


Requirements


  • Ability to use basic hand tools, power tools, tape measure, grinders, and saws safely.
  • Strong and clear communication skills – ability to give clear directions to others.
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Fork Lift operation
  • Knowledge of OSHA procedures, particularly Lockout Tagout and electrical testing.
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.

Educational Requirements/Degree(s)

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • NEC (National Electrical Code) Training and in depth working knowledge of code requirements.
