Founded in November of 1992, SynTerra is an employee-owned science and engineering consulting firm.  We help clients meet business objectives and address technical challenges in innovative and cost-effective ways.  With offices throughout the Southeast, SynTerra works with clients on governmental, industrial, economic development, and commercial projects.  Our mission is to foster our client’s success by helping to balance technical, economic, and social considerations.

SynTerra is looking for a Project Manager whose main role is to manage limited phase(s) of large projects, or smaller, standalone projects under the direction of a more senior Project Manager or a Program Manager. The responsibility of this role covers all aspects of the project over the entire project life (initiate, plan, execute, control, close). 


Responsibilities: (The following is a list of responsibilities of this position, but is not intended to cover all duties that this position may be required to perform from time to time.)

  • Responsible for technical direction and implementation of project scope of work. 
  • Responsible for the initial evaluation of data and preparation of corresponding reports or other deliverables.
  • Effectively communicate with the client’s primary contact (SME).
  • Prepare proposal and project change requests with assistance from other team members as needed.
  • Review proposals and PCRs prior to submittal to clients.
  • Review and approve monthly invoicing with appropriate support as needed.
  • Responsible for profitability of project/phase(s), adherence to project schedule, and quality of work product.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external clients.
  • Provide accurate, detailed and high-quality work products.
  • Comply with all current policies and procedures of SynTerra.
  • Comply with all Health and Safety training in order to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Full-Time employees: Available to work 40 hours per week, plus additional hours as needed to meet project deadlines. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager or his/her designee.
Requirements
  •  Bachelor’s degree in sciences related field or engineering is required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience is required. Previous experience with project management is preferred.
  • Software proficiency (including but not limited to): Adobe Acrobat, Google Earth Pro, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • 40 hr. OSHA HAZWOPER trained a plus.
  • MSHA trained a plus.
  • Working knowledge of field investigation methods (e.g., drilling, monitoring well installation, sampling of soil, groundwater, sediments, surface water and air).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for all levels of technical understanding.
  • Excellent math skills required.
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and auto insurance.


Physical Demands/Working Environment:

  • The Project Manager must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail. 
  • The Project Manager’s work environment involves work primarily indoors with occasional need to work in an outdoor setting. Work environments range from climate controlled office space to areas where dust, noise, and outdoor weather conditions may be present.
  • May sit or stand for several hours at a time and climb inclines (terrains, ladders, etc.). 
  • The Project Manager must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Travel throughout client service area is required as needed.
