Description

The Senior Library Outreach Associate oversees the Library Connect program's planning, implementation, and management, delivering mobile library and literacy services throughout Riverside County. Reporting to the Literacy Services Coordinator, this role entails extensive community engagement, commitment to inclusivity, and development of program standards to enhance service quality and accessibility.

  • Plan, develop, produce, and evaluate Library Connect programs and services to meet the Riverside County Library System's goals and the community's needs.
  • Develop Library Connect program standards, policies, and procedures to enhance the safety, accessibility, and efficiency of Library Connect services.
  • Train and supervise Library Connect staff, delegate and review work, assess effectiveness and services, and motivate and lead the team.
  • Co-managed collection development and maintenance for Library Connect vans and tracked program expenditures.
  • Maintain a route schedule that serves diverse community locations, such as schools, nursing homes, community centers, and housing projects, tailoring services to the needs of each audience.
  • Plan routes and staffing schedules, considering community events, seasonal changes, and emerging service demands.
  • Collaborate with the RCLS Marketing team to publicize the Library Connect schedule and outreach services and update content on the library's website and Opal space.
  • Ensure the Library Connect fleet is well-maintained and coordinate vehicle servicing needs.
  • Show initiative in recommending improvements to mobile library and outreach services.
  • Lead and facilitate various literacy programs, including adult literacy, family literacy, digital literacy, and ESL, ensuring successful program completion.
  • Oversee data collection and input monthly statistics into Counting Opinions and other grant-related systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing program outcomes and impact on stakeholders and management.
  • Assist with the logistics of Library Connect routes and stops, including setup and breakdown procedures.
  • Interact with patrons, including seniors and young children, with sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
  • Cultivate community partnerships and identify sites for promoting and recruiting new library patrons and literacy learners, working closely with local schools, senior residences, and other library departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals and mission of the Riverside County Library and Literacy Services.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or two years of equivalent experience in areas related to the responsibilities of this position.
  • A valid California Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
  • Must remain insurable with no major California traffic violations.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise a team effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to continuously learn and develop skills in a changing work environment and support teammates through organizational changes.
  • Knowledge of best practices in leadership and supervision is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Successful completion of a background check.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of staff, patrons, supervisors, and others.
  • Ability to work weekends and some evenings.
  • Proficiency in using various technologies to complete work.
  • Ability to follow library policies and procedures.
  • Adaptability to work accurately in a changing and varied environment.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, or inclement weather.
  • Will be required to work indoors and outdoors
  • Will be required to sit, stand, and drive for extended periods



Salary Description
22.00
