Mechanical Engineer

Toyon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join a team developing prototypes of reentry bodies and other aerospace systems. This position requires a strong background in mechanical design and drafting. The Mechanical Engineer will participate in the entire design process; from conceptualization, detailed design, release of technical drawing packages, through the development of manufacturing processes and specifications. 

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following experience and skills: 

  • B.S. or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 or more years of experience designing structures encountering challenging vibration, shock, and temperature environments. 
  • Experience with the various elements of mechanical design, including selection of structural materials, adhesive and fastener selection; AMSE y14.5 and other relevant ASME drafting standards; familiarity with ISO 9001/AS9100/MIL Specifications as they apply to aerospace structures. 
  • Ability to work in a team environment involving experts in diverse disciplines (e.g. aero-thermal and thermo-structural analyses, RF and IR signature effects of materials and configurations, etc.). 
  • Experience with SolidWorks and / or Creo preferred.

The annual pay range for the Mechanical Engineer position is $110,000 to $165,000.


The posted pay range values provide the candidate with guidance on annual base compensation for the position, at a full time level of effort, exclusive of overtime, bonus, and benefits-related compensation, over a range of qualifications that may fit hiring objectives. Toyon Research Corporation will consider the individual candidate’s education, work experience, applicable knowledge, skills and training, among other factors, when preparing an offer of employment.
