Overview

SHALVA is seeking an Orthodox Outreach Manager to lead the implementation of community outreach efforts to the Orthodox Jewish communities of the greater Chicagoland area. As a nonprofit providing domestic violence services and education on intimate partner violence and healthy relationships to the greater Chicagoland Jewish community, SHALVA is a recipient of a grant awarded by the Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women (OVW). Reporting to the Director of Community Education, this newly created position is OVW grant funded for 2 years with potential for growth as either a permanent position or supported by future grant funding. 


Responsibilities

The Orthodox Outreach Manager will oversee all SHALVA’s programming, and education to the Orthodox Jewish community. Using institutional knowledge of the Greater Chicagoland Orthodox community and skills in curriculum building and writing, this person will work collaboratively with SHALVA’s Orthodox Outreach Coordinator to enhance and expand programs already in place and create new programs. Programs include Seven Circles (a healthy relationship program for couples), the growth of the Orthodox Rabbinic Task Force, and a new Volunteer Ambassador Program.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight on education of the Orthodox community, including expansion of outreach to new pockets of the community
  • Create and implement a Volunteer Ambassador Program
  • Provide additional support for the implementation of Seven Circles
  • Provide additional support of Orthodox Rabbinic Task Force and oversee growth of the Task Force
  • Oversee any marketing specifically targeted for the Orthodox community
Requirements

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum undergraduate college degree
  • Curriculum writing experience
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the Greater Chicagoland Orthodox Jewish community preferred
  • Knowledge of Orthodox Jewish culture, customs, and practice
  • Effective interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong presentation skills for small and large groups
  • Intermediate technical skills (Microsoft 365)
  • Knowledge and understanding of domestic abuse a plus

Salary/Benefits

This will be a part-time (20 hours a week minimum) position. Salary is commensurate with experience. This role is eligible for life and disability insurance; generous paid leave, flexible work schedules, FSA, cell phone stipend, and a 401(k) plan with an employer match component after one year.
