Job Title: Operator 1 (Reaction Operator)

Position Summary
The Operator 1 will set up and complete complex reaction in vessels in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. This position will control and adjust equipment settings to complete specified tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion and is responsible for manufacturing quality finished goods and manage hazardous raw materials in a safe and efficient manner. This includes the running of reactors, loading/unloading of tank trucks, railcars, totes, or drums as required.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
· Process chemical products reactions using batch sheet instructions.
· Monitor gauges, recording instruments, flow meters, or products to ensure that specified conditions are maintained.
· Measure, weigh and mix chemical ingredients, according to specifications.
· Track and record process information and production data.
· Perform basic laboratory tests which may include viscosity, Karl Fisher, GC, pH, glycol, alkalinity and others as requested.
· Clean and prepare equipment, as required, for subsequent reactions or maintenance.
· Draw samples of products at specified stages so that analyses can be performed.
· Load and unload material containers such as tank cars, tank trucks, drums, and totes.
· Maintain plant housekeeping in specifically assigned areas and elsewhere as requested.
· Setup equipment for production by operating valves and pumps, and insuring line-ups are correct without internal or external leaks.
· Complete equipment log sheets as requested.
· Operate equipment Ex: forklifts, Cooling Tower, Steam Boiler, Nitrogen Tanks, Ammonia Tank & heater
· Perform routine plant surveillance to report and correct, if possible, any abnormal situations.
· Complete and maintain all level one required training and certification with a score of 80 or above.
· Observe all company & safety policies and procedures. Participate in plant safety processes and immediately report any unsafe conditions.
· Remain current on the requirements of the QMS and ensure that your actions support the Element Quality Policy towards continual improvement.
· Maintain familiarity of the safe handling, environmental regulations and emergency response for all materials in your area.

Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 4-8 years’ experience in chemical manufacturing & production, material handling, warehouse
- Knowledge of industry standards and practices.
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships.
