Ruffolo, Hooper, and Associates, MD, PA (RHA) is actively recruiting a full-time, AP/CP Board Certified Pathologist with fellowship training in Hematopathology to support our growing needs. This role is based at Tampa General Hospital, the region’s largest hospital and the main teaching institution for the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine.

· Qualifications: AP/CP board certification and hematopathology board certification or eligibility. Candidates must also hold or be eligible for a Florida medical license.

SUMMARY
Provides anatomic and clinical pathology interpretation of tissue and blood as related to diagnostic services in healthcare services facilities. Collaborates with other medical staff including surgeons, physiologists, and pathologists to assess and manage patient care and treatment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Examine all samples as requested, conducting all necessary tests accurately; order additional testing, if necessary
- Provide thorough written evaluation and diagnosis for each case
- Conduct or direct gross examinations, as needed
- Participate in service rotations including cytology, frozen sections, early and late shifts, subspecialty services, weekly on-call schedule, etc.
- Ensure the proper handling of all samples
- Participate in the training/teaching of pathologists’ assistants, residents, and medical students
- Work collaboratively with other physicians and laboratory staff
- Attend all required trainings and conferences
- Maintain compliance with all legal and institutional requirements at all times
- Completes continuing education courses to maintain medical licenses, certifications, and malpractice coverage renewal
- May perform other duties as assigned

This position reports to the RHA Board of Directors.
SUPERVISION
Provides supervision as needed to Pathologists’ Assistants.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPOSURE RISK
Typical medical laboratory environment with risk of exposure to toxic, caustic, biohazardous (blood-borne pathogens) elements, and chemicals. Moderate noise associated with automated instruments, hoods, etc. Exposure to disagreeable visual and odorous elements on a daily basis. May have extended periods of sitting and standing. Lifting heavy items up to 50 lbs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Considerable mental and physical demand is required for the majority of tasks. Must also be able to perceive three dimensional and geometric relationships of tissue. Excellent hand and eye coordination. Vision must be to work in an environment which is correctable 20/20 and hearing must be in normal range for telephone contacts. Requires constant use of hands to operate instruments, microtome, microscope, computers, etc. Ability to work with hazardous chemicals, biohazardous body parts and blood products.

REQUIRED EDUCATION
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited university
- AP/CP Board Certification in good standing
