Bilingual Case Manager

PURPOSE STATEMENT: To provide comprehensive case management and crisis intervention to include culturally and linguistically appropriate referrals, advocacy, and accompaniment to access housing, medical and mental health care, English classes, employment, Crime Victims Compensation, etc.

Ayuda is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing direct legal, social and language access services, education, and outreach to low-income immigrants in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Since 1973, Ayuda has provided critical services on a wide range of issues, in the process acquiring nationally recognized expertise in several fields including immigration law, language access, domestic violence and human trafficking. Ayuda has office locations in Washington, DC, Silver Spring, MD and Fairfax, VA.

WHAT WILL THIS JOB ENTAIL? 

  • Provide case management, including comprehensive case management and crisis intervention. 
  • Services provided in various offices, and virtually. 
  • Conduct client intakes and safety planning, assess client needs, and develop individualized service plans. 
  • Assist clients in applying and enrolling in federal, state, and local programs aligned with client needs (public benefits, housing program, educational classes, TVAP (Trafficking Victim Assistance Program), and other relevant services), including culturally and linguistically appropriate referrals. 
  • Accompany clients to appointments as needed and collaborate with other agencies to provide client with requested services and advocate for client as needed. 
  • Provide advocacy in the best interests of the client. 
  • Participate in regularly scheduled supervision with other Ayuda’s social services team. 
  • Document services provided and collect and maintain required information for specific funding reporting; 
  • Collaborate across Ayuda’s departments, including Ayuda’s legal department, to provide holistic services to clients; 
  • Conduct internal and external training as needed. 
  • Ensure Ayuda representation at local coalition meetings and participate in advocacy initiatives 
  • Completes duties as assigned by Supervising Case Manager and Director of Social Services to meet the demands facing immigrant communities. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Requirements

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU CAN DO THIS JOB? 

Eligibility Requirements:  Must be legally able to work in the United States and maintain proper work authorization throughout employment. Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position presented in a general office environment. Satisfactory results from a background check to include criminal history and a search of the employee’s name against a national registry of sex offenders.

Education/Experience/Skills

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in the social services related field (Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, etc.) 
  • One or more years of experience working with immigrant survivors of trauma strongly preferred 
  • Fluent in English and Spanish 
  • Knowledge of social services within the DMV, specifically those for immigrants strongly preferred 
  • Desire to work with interdisciplinary team in representing the best interest of the client 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to be flexible, excellent time-management and organizational skills 
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and working in different offices; 
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently and collaboratively 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

The anticipated salary for this position is $54,600 - $62,000, depending on experience.
