GENERAL SUMMARY

The ASC Nurse Manager will be responsible for providing, delegating, and coordinating nursing care. This position oversees the day-to-day functions of the surgical team. This includes ensuring policies and procedures are being followed and the operating rooms run smoothly to provide optimal patient care daily.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and delegates OR nursing activities throughout the surgery center.
  • Coordinates and controls all aspects of OR management, surgical services, staff, patient relations and safety of all patients.
  • Assumes overall responsibility for scheduling of nursing personnel in accordance with established staffing guidelines for each area.
  • Utilizing professional nursing judgment, takes action to implement plan of care for the patient. Implements medical treatment plan as ordered by medical staff.
  • Demonstrates understanding and interpretation of diagnostic measures such as lab tests, radiology exams, and electrocardiograms.
  • Provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members.
  • Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
  • Ensures all new team members are trained and current with their annual competencies.
  • Develops, implements, and administers clinical policies and procedures in partnership with senior management. Ensures proper documentation, communication, and understanding with staff.
  • Performs other position related duties as assigned.
  • Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations. This will include and not be limited to following the Solaris Health Code of Conduct and all Solaris Health and Affiliated Practice policies and procedures; maintaining the confidentiality of patients' protected health information in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); immediately reporting any suspected concerns and/or violations to a supervisor and/or the Compliance Department; and the timely completion the Annual Compliance Training.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSURES OR REGISTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • RN License and certification as required by state.
  • BLS certification required, ACLS preferred.

KNOWLEDGE | SKILLS | ABILITIES

  • Ability to verbalize understanding of nursing processes. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills, and administration of medications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make constant/frequent judgment/response to problems.
  • Ability to handle unpredictable situations involving high stress/pressure. Ability to address sensitive situations, resolve conflicts, negotiate, motivate, and persuade others.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Knowledgeable of accreditations and patient safety.
  • Basic working knowledge of computer systems and Microsoft Office software.
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduate of an accredited nuring program required. BSN preferred.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years prior experience supervising nursing staff.
  • Surgical experience preferred.
