Position: Lighting Technician
Position reports to the R &D Manager and CEO
Job Location: 1718 W. Fullerton Ave. Chicago IL
Job Type: Full-Time
Payrate: $24-$30 per hour
The Lighting Technician makes repairs to damaged or improperly functioning lighting products, both in the shop and at the customer site (only to our own product). They will be responsible for testing and installing all Pure Edge lighting fixtures as directed by the manager and assisting with inventory counts as directed.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for product repairs returned by customers or to new product if so instructed by the Manager.
- Keeps product awaiting repair in an organized manner.
- Completes repair order worksheets documenting time spent and parts used to repair the product.
- Notifies Customer Service of completion of repair work, so that the customer can be notified.
- Immediately advises the President, of defective inventory products in need of improvement by the manufacturer (by both e-mail and in person). A log should be kept of all defective products and what was done to resolve the defect.
- Installs and maintains fixtures in the office and on the retail showroom floor.
- Test new fixtures for light output, and thermals, install to NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, and any other test as instructed by the Manager.
- Helps maintain parts inventory in an orderly and organized fashion as directed by the Inventory Manager.
- Notifies the Inventory Manager of out-of-stock situations.
- Makes sure all inventory movement is supported by an appropriate inventory document, i.e., repair order, pull ticket, inventory transfer form, shipping instructions, etc.
- Inspects inventory for wear and defects. Recommends solutions for damaged inventory - whether to have repaired or returned to the vendor.
- Works with the Inventory Manager to identify slow-moving inventory.
- Assists with the taking of a physical inventory as directed by the Inventory Manager, including cable, accessories, and bulbs. Counts must be accurate.
- Restricts access to inventory to authorized personnel only (i.e., shipping, receiving, and delivery personnel only – sales personnel are not allowed access to the inventory).
- Answers technical questions from sales and customer service personnel.
- Contributes to the team effort by assisting others as needed. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
- Technical knowledge of electrical and lighting products.
- Minimum 3 years required experience.
- Full-time hours.
- Must be available on Saturdays.
