The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is currently seeking candidates for it's new part time seasonal role of Museum Educator. This exciting opportunity is based at Taliesin West in Scottsdale AZ, a UNESCO World Heritage site and National Historic Landmark that is visited by more than 100,000 guests each year.
Position Summary:
The Museum Educator is a key member of the Youth & Family Programs Department, which leads all programs and activities for students, teachers, youth, and family audiences at Taliesin West. This department helps visitors of all ages engage with art, design, and nature through hands-on activities and project-based learning. Reporting to the Youth & Family Programs Manager, the Seasonal Part-Time Museum Educator is responsible for delivering high-quality educational experiences for k-12 students and teachers. They will follow a pre-written curriculum and teach and/or co-teach field trips. These lessons are based on the work and legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright, and our curriculum includes history, art, engineering, and architecture content.
The ideal candidate for this role will bring a spirit of flexibility and possess skills in teaching, informal education, formal education and/or childcare. They will be able to think several steps ahead and at times, independently see what must be done to prepare and lead an educational activity. The successful candidate thinks on their feet and learns autonomously, to effectively comprehend and teach pre-written lesson/program plans.
The Museum Educator role is seasonal part-time (from January through April 2025) with a regular schedule of 3 days a week, predominately Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings from approximately 8:30 am-1:30 pm depending on programmatic needs. The rate of pay is $17/hour.
Essential Functions:
· Teach and/or co-teach programs for k-12 students alongside the Senior Museum Educator.
· Assist with set-up and tear down of educational programs and activities in various locations across the Taliesin West property.
· Communicate clear safety rules and maintain control of the group to ensure guests’ safety and minimize potential damage to our historic property.
· Follow departmental policies and procedures, understand the Employee Handbook, and communicate emergency situations to manager and/or supervisor in a timely manner.
· Demonstrate excellent oral communication and presentation skills with a guest-centric focus and effectively present information and respond to questions.
· Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
· Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, volunteers, and all members of the public.
· Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
To successfully perform this role, individuals must meet the following criteria:
· Experience in teaching youth audiences; bachelor’s degree in Education preferred.
· Background in Education, Museum Studies, History, Art History, Engineering, or Architecture.
· Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 3 hours without rest.
· Excellent customer service skills and ability to comfortably work with youth, family, and educator audiences.
· Commitment to a regular work schedule of 15 hours per week.
· Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within quickly changing priorities with enthusiasm and good humor.
· Ability to navigate and traverse desert terrain, both paved and unpaved, in all kinds of weather.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of Frank Lloyd Wright and his architectural principles.
· Basic knowledge of technology and computer applications/programs like Microsoft Office Suite.
