Position Summary:
The Senior Director of Faith Community Initiatives (FCI) & Annual Giving develops and implements a comprehensive strategic plan for building and enhancing FCI and Annual Giving. Solicits financial support through proposals or face-to-face visits with corporations, foundations, and organizations and other faith-based entities. Responsible to communicate the impact and opportunities that exist for involvement in KAI's work around the world.
Essential Duties:
Strategic Leadership (20%):
- Oversee FCI and Annual Giving departments.
- Engage with national staff, missionaries, alumni, recruits, and other stakeholders to accomplish KAI’s goals.
- Develop and carry out strategies for KAI’s FCI and Annual Giving departments in collaboration with the Chief Resource Officer (CRO), Director of FCI, and Annual Giving Manager.
- Set measurable annual revenue goals in collaboration with the Chief Resource Officer (CRO), Director of FCI, and Annual Giving Manager.
- Oversee the operating budget for FCI and Annual Giving.
Partnership Acquisition – Faith Community/Corporations/Foundations/Organizations (60%):
- Maintain a portfolio of approximately 25 to 50 individuals and/or entities with the capacity to support KAI at the major gifts level.
- Acquire and manage new donors from the Faith Community, Corporations, Foundations, Organizations, and individuals with a high-net-worth portfolio, ensuring a deep understanding of each donor's interests, motivations, and giving capacity.
- Build, maintain, and deepen relationships with current and potential faith community partners based on target profiles to secure financial and faith-based support for KAI.
- Develop and execute solicitation plans for major gifts, working closely with the CRO and other stakeholders.
- Engage congregations of diverse traditions, cultural backgrounds, and denominational lines based on changing dynamics of the church and outreach trends.
- Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in faith-based giving.
Cultivation and Stewardship: (10%)
- Fully utilize the organization’s tools and resources to identify, contact, and cultivate relationships and partnerships with Faith Communities, Corporations, Foundations, Organizations, and high-net-worth individual donors, tracking all activity in KAI's donor and stakeholder database.
- Work closely with the Donor Research Coordinator to identify the best prospects for cultivation and solicitation.
- Present the impact and benefit of partnership with KAI in a variety of faith-based and non-faith-based environments.
- Represent Kids Alive at special events, activities, and other assigned functions.
- Serve as a leader for vision trips for major donors.
- Ensure proper acknowledgment and recognition of Faith Communities, Corporations, Foundations, Organizations, and high-net-worth individual donors, including personalized thank-you letters and recognition in relevant publications.
- Collaborate with the CRO to develop and implement stewardship plans that engage donors and demonstrate the impact of their contributions.
Collaboration and Reporting (10%):
- Collaborate with other members of the development team, program staff, and CRO to align fundraising efforts with organizational goals.
- Provide regular updates on progress, performance metrics, and activities related to the high-net-worth portfolio to CRO.
- Regularly assess and update donor profiles, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
- Ensure quick entry of relevant contact with donors into the CRM system which includes phone calls, emails, meetings, events, etc.
- Be an active participant in all fundraising campaigns.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic leadership to the staff and teams responsible for:
- FCI
- Annual Giving
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field, Master’s Degree preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience with a proven record of accomplishment in identifying, cultivating, and sustaining constituent relationships with a variety of Christian faith communities: churches, colleges and universities, campus ministries, civic organizations, and networks of affiliated organizations.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a team supervisor/manager.
- Experience in ministry, lay ministry, or missionary work, preferably in contexts of cultural diversity or vulnerable populations.

- Ability to present compelling stories about our mission and potential and existing partners.
- Proven understanding of and sensitivity to the unique challenges of working globally, respecting the diversity of our people and cultures.
- Efficient organizational and management abilities, including ability to work independently to carry details through to completion, including proficiency in MS Office suite, CRM databases, etc.
- Language proficiency in Spanish and/or French highly desired.
- Ability to effectively lead and collaborate with internal team members and partners (both direct reports and coworkers).

- High level of personal and professional integrity, including the ability to maintain confidentiality regarding donor profiles and personal information.
- An understanding of the formal and organic roles of faith communities in engaging with the world around them.

Physical Demands:
- Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time and be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.

Regular Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly working in a typical interior/office work environment.
- The position involves extended and atypical work hours including evenings and weekends.
- The position involves performing duties in a wide variety of environments and during travel.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Travel:
This position requires local, national, and/or international travel up to 40% of the time (21 weeks out of the year).
- Must be able to maintain a valid Driver’s License and passport.
- Must be able to lead international travel to KAI program sites which includes vision and other types of partnership trips.
