Job Summary:
The position is responsible for leading the technical aspects and evaluation of tests on both production and prototype products for airflow, sound, and vibration per AMCA standards. This also requires assistance in maintaining test equipment, documenting all test procedures, keeping log of all tests, and maintaining lab certification with AMCA. This position involves researching, testing, and proving feasibility of potential new products and product enhancements for future transition to new product development. There will also be requirements to perform full engineering analysis on failed components either through internal testing or through a field failure. This will include identifying the root cause of the failure and assisting in identifying appropriate corrective actions and/or improvements.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Technical lead for air, sound, vibration, over-speed tests and other mechanical testing as required
- Prepare customer test reports
- Maintain laboratory certification records and conduct calibration tests
- Use in-house computer programs to record and analyze test results
- Conduct physical inventory of goods in the laboratory
- Assist in designs and modifications of new and existing products
- Responsible for obtaining all components and materials necessary for testing fans including fan parts, ductwork, drive components etc.
- Modify fans and other types of equipment if necessary
- Troubleshoot field problems and recommend corrections
- Perform problem solving, root-cause analysis including testing, assembly and disassembly
- Assist other engineering functions as needed
- Ability to inspect product materials and systems for defects and durability
- Should be a good team player as they have to collaborate with various departments (e.g. manufacturing, production, engineering & customer service)
- Write up fan failure analysis reports on returned goods
Qualifications and Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is preferred
- 1+ years rotating equipment testing experience and knowledge of instrumentation is preferred
- Familiarity with “SolidWorks” and/or AutoCAD would be an advantage
- Must be able to read blue prints.
- Good understanding of aerodynamics, sound, and vibration
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical report writing are required
- Must be a team player and work well independently or with little supervision
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is required
- Flexible and adaptive to change.
- Willingness to do what it takes to get the job done correctly, accurately, and timely
- Organized to maintain project completion in a timely manner and an ability to understand priorities, while following through in project management.
