Miami Children's Museum is looking for a new Museum Preschool Associate Director to join their team!
Miami Children’s Museum is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational institution, which meets the needs of all children in our multicultural community. The Museum offers interactive exhibits, programs and learning materials related to arts, culture and our community. Miami Children’s Museum encourages visitors of all ages to play, learn, imagine and create together.
The Museum Preschool Associate Director oversees early childhood programs, implements curriculum, and fosters staff professionalism. Key responsibilities include teacher recruitment, professional development, enrollment management, and overseeing systems like Procare and DOE/DCF portals. This role collaborates with staff and partners to ensure program goals and an exceptional family experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Implement innovative, project-based curriculum in an inclusive, family-oriented environment.
- Develop and manage educational programs aligned with exhibits to enhance visitor experiences.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and inspire a passionate teaching team.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, licensing, and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with museum departments to support the mission and drive revenue.
- Oversee child assessments, lesson plans, and classroom management through the Education Manager.
- Support instructional grants in partnership with the Director of Education and Outreach Associate.
- Organize tours, orientations, and communication to promote preschool openings and waitlists.
- Supervise daily operations and assess department progress toward objectives.
- Engage in the early childhood community through memberships, meetings, and webinars.
- Ensure alignment with Reggio Emilia, High-Scope, and Conscious Discipline philosophies.
- Conduct staff performance reviews, interviews, onboarding, and professional development.
- Plan and execute Exhibit Nights and other educational events.
- Other duties as assigned
- A bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
- An active Director’s Credential
- 3-5 years’ experience teaching in an early childhood classroom
- 3-5 years of child-care center management and leadership experience
- Well versed in NAEYC accreditation and licensing standards
- A proven track record in the design, delivery, and evaluation of early childhood education programs for the public, especially children ages 0-8, their parents and education professionals.
- Excellent fiscal and personnel management skills.
- Experience with High-Scope, Conscious-Discipline, and/or Reggio Emilia Approach to learning
- Bilingual in English and Spanish required to effectively communicate with our diverse community
