Description

 LAC Federal is seeking a Library Fellow with a strong interest in biomedical and scientific libraries. The Fellow will gain valuable experience assisting professional scientific librarians in performing research, managing curated alerts, conducting literature searching and providing instruction on use of library resources for a federal institution in the Research Triangle Park, NC area. This position also assists with general library technical services duties as needed including collection maintenance, interlibrary loan, and cataloging. This is a full-time, hybrid position with benefits.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with reference including research alerts, literature searches, and instruction.
  • Assist with library projects associated with branch and laboratory reviews
  • Assist with access services, including cataloging and interlibrary loans.
  • Keeps up with trends in current librarianship, attends offsite trainings on medical library topics, and designs relevant classes as needed.
Requirements
  • Must be ACA- accredited MLS (Master of Library Science).
  • Master’s degree in Library Science.
  • Some interest in science or medicine, or experience in a medical or scientific setting is preferred.

  

Physical Requirements

Must be able to frequently move from place to place within the location; file and retrieve books and other items on high shelves; lift/push up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. of heavy boxes, books, and equipment; work in confined spaces; walk; bend; stoop; reach; and climb.
