The Registration Specialist supports the development of course schedules and the registration of students each session. The Registration Specialist aligns the course schedule with student class needs, qualified and approved faculty, and room availability and the student registrations with student degree program audits, academic standing, and status.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains the schedule of classes each semester
- Registers current and future students according to their degree audit needs, including adjustments related to:
- Prerequisites and academic progress
- Schedule change requests
- Withdrawals and failed courses
- Changes in student statuses
- Class cancellations
- Accommodations
- Special circumstances
- Monitors student academic progress and adjusts student schedules as needed
- Aligns classes and facility for appropriateness for size and instructional needs
- Consults with academic leaders, facility administrators, and other personnel in the Office of the Registrar as needed to address issues pertaining to course and classroom scheduling
- Collaborates with technology department regarding course creation, course monitoring, and compliance with classroom needs, including syllabi, videos, resources, and textbook information
- Contributes to the overall success of the Office of the Registrar by performing all other duties as required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Experience with classroom scheduling databases and tools
- Ability to analyze and utilize historical and empirical data
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and time management skills; is highly organized, able to balance priorities, and detail-oriented
- Ability to work cross-departmentally, understanding and prioritizing multiple points of view to create effective, creative solutions

- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with an ability to present information clearly and effectively to groups of students
- Ability to multi-task and organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion with an attention to detail
- Ability to effectively identify and resolve problems and to maintain strict confidentiality related to sensitive information
- Ability to operate office equipment such as fax machines, copiers, and phone systems, and computers for spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and other applications
- Strong written, oral, and digital communication skills
- Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office
- Flexibility with hours
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma required
- 1-2 years of clerical or customer service experience required, preferably in an academic institution
- Prior experience working with international students preferred
- Prior experience in roles directly related to FERPA compliance preferred
Equity Eligible:
There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for hiring in US is $18/hr-$20/hr DOE.
