JOB SUMMARY
The Library Associate 2 is the mid-level position in the Library Associate job family. Under direct supervision from management, the Library Associate 2 performs a variety of moderately complex technical and paraprofessional duties in support of the Pioneer Room local history archive. Provides customer service to archive patrons.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
- Provides customer service by welcoming patrons and assisting with research requests.
- Assists patrons with locating archival materials, using computers, scanners, and copiers, and explaining procedures.
- Processes archival collections and donations under supervision from management.
- Performs local history and genealogy research under supervision from management.
- Assists with meetings, programming, outreach, and community partnerships.
- Accepts and processes payments.
- Posts to Library social media platforms.
- Provides information regarding programs, events, and library and archive services.
- Shelves reading room and archival materials.
- Addresses or escalates patron conduct or safety issues to appropriate management.
- Other duties as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An individual should possess knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in an archival setting or related academic coursework preferred (Archival or Library Science, History, Museum Studies, or another related field)
- Ability to work a regular schedule that will include a combination or days, evenings and weekends.
- Excellent customer service skills
- Knowledge of archival standards, metadata, and databases preferred (EAD, MARC, DACS, RDA)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
- Knowledge of Canva Visual Suite
- Knowledge of Meta Business Suite (Facebook, Instagram)
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal. English/Spanish speaking is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQURIEMENTS
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
