Supervisor:             Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Status:                     Full-time or Part-time

Location:                 Onsite including Hibbing Office, Virginia Offices, and Ely Office; telehealth is negotiable

Pay Band:                $130,000 - $160,000 BOE

Job Summary:

The Nurse Practitioner provides clinical and medical psychiatric assessment, treatment and referral, ensuring high quality and well-coordinated mental health services for the people we serve. 


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide psychiatric care to clients in accordance with established and accepted methods and practices for Nurse’s specialty
  • Actively engage in development and operation of RMHC’s psychiatry services 
  • Maintain proper and compliant EHR (electronic health record) documentation
  • Develop and implement treatment programs and modalities to meet client needs
  • Participate in RMHC’s quality assurance, outcomes, and risk management programs
  • Assist, as requested by RMHC, with the recruitment, engagement, and evaluation of medical, nursing, and other staff
  • Comply with all pertinent regulatory and statutory requirements, including accrediting organizations, applicable laws, and regulations
  • Positively represents RMHC
  • Participate in continuing education and in-service training 
  • Perform such other duties and at such places that are assigned from time to time by RMHC which are consistent with Nurse’s specialty
  • Abide by the terms of RMHC’s Corporate Compliance Plan
  • Attend training as required by RMHC and the Department of Human Services to meet both minimum training requirements and mandated trainings
  • Communicate with Medical Director regarding issues / updates on the people we serve as required by Department of Human Services and RMHC
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent clinical assessment and mental health counseling skills
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate, document in and navigate software and web based applications such as EHR, Microsoft Outlook, Doxy, and other programs as needed
  • Ability to manage multiple demands in a fluid and sometimes stressful environment
  • Good observation, rapid assessment, and crisis management skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Licensed or ability to be licensed as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Certified Nursing Specialist in Minnesota
  • At least five (5) years of experience working with individuals with a serious mental illness is preferred
  • Must maintain appropriate credentials, licensure, and meet malpractice insurance standards

Physical Requirements:

  • Sufficient vision to work on a computer
  • Sufficient hearing to use phone
  • Ability to lift 5 pounds
  • Ability to articulate the English language in a manner that is sufficiently clear to be easily understood
  • Maintain an acceptable level of cleanliness and physical appearance
