Description

 

LAC Federal is seeking a qualified English Language Cataloger with expertise in cataloging books, serials, and rare books, as well as experience updating records using cataloging software such as Axiell and Alma.

The Cataloger will work as part of a project team based on-site at a major institution's headquarters in Washington, D.C. They will collaborate closely with an on-site archivist and a remote project manager.

The organization is undergoing a relocation process, and while the primary focus will be cataloging library materials, the Cataloger may also be tasked with supporting move-related activities, such as inventorying assets or handling audiovisual materials.

Full-time on-site temporary 6-month assignment. Mostly cataloging 


Responsibilities

  • Perform copy cataloging, original cataloging, or updating existing records as appropriate and defined by the client. 
  • Participate in other project-related tasks and meetings with the project manager and team.


Requirements
  • MLIS, or a Master’s in a related field; OR a Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of work experience.
  • Familiarity with Axiell and Alma software or ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Experience with original cataloging as well as copy cataloging.
  • Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft applications.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues.

  

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork. 
  • Occasionally lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds such as files, books, and other materials.
