Forklift Operator Job Description

Key Accountabilities:

• Load, unload, move and stage pallets and parcels using a sit-down style, LP powered forklift and/or pallet jacks.

• Stage and assemble loads ensuring the the specific pallets and parcels are loaded in the correct order on a truck.

• Build and load stable pallets for transport.

• Band crates to pallets in a safe and secure manner.

• Comply with all OSHA and Forklift Certification standards.

• Verify load accuracy and stability.

• Be able to change LP tank of forklift unassisted.

• Keep operator’s area of forklift neat and clean at all times.

• Assist in physical inventories and manual loading of trucks.

• Complete daily inspections of equipment and report to management any mechanical or damage issues immediately.

Skills and Experience Required:

• Forklift operator certificate or satisfactory completion of a forklift-training program within the first 30 days of employment

• Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds throughout shift

• Capable of standing, bending, twisting, sitting throughout shift

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

• 2 years of recent, verifiable warehouse experience on a forklift.

• Promotes teamwork and cooperative efforts 

• Must be able to perform basic arithmetical calculations including addition, subtractions, division and multiplication 

• Must be capable of working under tight constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities

?  Required to work in hot and cold temperatures.
