What you will be doing:


The Student Accounts Advisor is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all student accounts by coordinating the setup, collection, payments, stipends, and refunds that occur throughout the student life cycle. In this vital role, you will play an integral part in managing and maintaining accurate financial records for student accounts, ensuring efficient billing and collection of tuition, fees, and other charges. Your meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and exceptional customer service abilities will contribute to the seamless operation of the Finance Department.


  • Complies with all Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures
  • Coordinates payment plans with students for balances owed to school
  • Ensures all charges and payment transactions are processed and recorded properly on a daily basis
  • Posts all funds received in a timely manner
  • Processes all employer scholarship and 529K plan documents/invoices
  • Schedules credit balance stipends and refunds
  • Assists as needed in identifying and scheduling refunds due to students for withdrawal, credit load reduction, or dropped courses
  • Maintains student account records
  • Processes refund and stipend checks on a timely and compliant basis
  • Maintains knowledge of SDI’s pricing model and refund policies
  • Communicates daily with students via phone and email communication, for all cash, scholarship or employer sources of funding, while providing exceptional customer service
  • Assists with file reviews, audits and other regulatory requirements as needed
  • Collects necessary documentation for completion of files
  • Processes pending charges and tuition waivers
  • Updates all necessary systems with pertinent student information
  • Collects on prior balances by coordinating student payments
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of billing
  • Performs balance sheet account reconciliations as directed
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and work experience with minimum of an Associate’s degree
  • One year or more experience of student or customer service experience
  • One year or more experience in AP/AR or client accounts management 
  • One your or more experience in collections experience
  • One year or more experience of student accounts experience preferred
  • Experience using CampusVue, Anthology is a huge plus
  • Proven experience in financial services, accounting, or student accounts management
  • Strong proficiency in financial software, databases, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Exceptional numerical accuracy and data entry skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements in higher education finance is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations such as FERPA, Title IV, and IRS guidelines
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
