POSITION GOAL: Provide excellent service to customers of the accounting and finance department through accurate and timely processing of payroll, accurate record keeping.
CLASSIFICATION: Hourly – Year-round – Non Exempt – Full Time
COMPENSATION: Starting at $20.541/hour, employer and employee contribute to Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain the Metropark payroll system, including employee master data files.
- Receive and process payroll changes from Human Resources for new and current employees.
- Assist with maintenance of an electronic time and attendance system.
- Respond to employee questions and problems regarding paychecks, fringe benefits and leave records.
- Review timesheets and leave entries for accuracy and prepare payroll for posting.
- Process bi-weekly employee payments and withholding remittances. Perform monthly, quarterly and end of year reporting/remittance as required by various agencies. .
- Maintain network folders with payroll reports for each pay period such as, detail check register, fund register and direct deposit report, and accruals.
- Prepare the reconciliation of payroll clearing accounts.
- Assist with the record of outstanding checks and other reconciling items.
- Establish, maintain, prepare and file all reports required by various agencies for payroll purposes.
- Perform special projects as assigned.
- Perform reports using finance and payroll software.
- Manage Section 125 flexible spending plan deductions and general ledger fund.
- Coordinate with human resources to maintain personnel records.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee records.
- Other park district work related duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED: General office equipment, multi-function copy machine, computers and audiovisual equipment.

MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Alternates to the following position requirements may be made as Metroparks finds appropriate and acceptable.
Education: Associate degree in accounting or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years payroll or accounting experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of payroll processing, administration of benefit programs.
- Computer skills including data entry and retrieval, word processing, spreadsheets and financial software.
- Basic math skills.
- Ability to create comprehensive reports; analyze data and modify as needed.
- Demonstrated attention to detail; high requirement for accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Understanding of general office procedures, practices, and protocols.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Work Schedule: 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday. Occasional evenings or weekends may be required.
- Work Location: Report to Wildwood Preserve Metropark, Administrative Offices. (Hybrid schedule optional)
- May require use of personal vehicle.
