Description

Nichols Contracting (NCI) is a family-owned and operated Construction and Contracting business headquartered in Columbia, MD with offices in Venice, Royal Palm Beach, and Orlando, FL, and a team of 170 employees. NCI is a full-service general contractor focused on providing premier services in all aspects of the construction process, from concept to completion. We manage a broad range of commercial construction projects, including new construction, tenant fit outs, and renovations. NCI services a diverse group of markets including federal, state, and local governments, as well as a variety of corporate and special industry organizations that require complex life safety and critical infrastructure needs.


The Proposal Development Manager will assist the Senior Estimator in the management of the proposal process, writing proposals, editing, and preparing the proposal package for submittal by the given deadline.


Essential Functions: 

• Collaborate with other departments to write and develop technical proposals, presentations, qualification statements, etc.

• Assist with proposal preparation, technical proposal writing, organization, subcontractor outreach, administrative paperwork, daily coordination, and other needs for the preconstruction process

• Review the RFP to include breaking down the client expectations, evaluation criteria and compliance requirements.

• Formulate a response strategy outlining how the proposal will address client needs and stand out from competitors.

• Guide and edit proposal content and content creation to include creative design (logos, cover pages, graphics, etc.).

• Set milestones and establish deadlines for different stages of the proposal process.

• Meticulously review proposals to ensure all requirements are included and proposals are free from error. Note: This position will not be responsible for the actual creation of the cost estimate but will assist with all other aspects of the proposal. 

• Serve as point of contact between the organization, estimator, and the client throughout the proposal process.

• Build and maintain positive client relationships.

• Occasionally attend pre-bid meetings (both virtual and on-site)

• Monitors local and federal solicitation opportunities as well as private leads to identify and pursue potential projects. 

• Manage the creation and maintenance of marketing materials to be used for the company’s social media accounts and website. 

• Supervises the Bid Manager fostering professional growth and maintaining organization within the sales/estimating department. 

• Prepare industry award submissions, client brochures, company marketing material.

• Manage project photography to showcase Nichols’ work for marketing and proposal purposes.

• Other duties as assigned.



Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in English, Marketing, or related discipline

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in editing and writing 

• Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills

• Adobe suite experience a plus

• Construction industry experience a plus

• Great writing and editing skills

• Strong organizational skills

Salary:  $160,000 plus performance-based Bonus incentives
