JOB SUMMARY
The Installation Supervisor is to handle all aspects of the installation process associated with a store. This includes scheduling, handling complaints and claims and otherwise being responsible for dealing with both employed and contract installers. In addition, this individual is responsible for communicating with customers regarding the installation process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain a schedule for installation jobs.
- Establish a list of qualified sub-contractors who can be retained to perform installation jobs.
- Review customer claims and complaints and supervise their resolution with installers and/or manufacturers.
- Schedule installations and relay scheduling information to customers, in a professional manner.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company guidelines, policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- With the approval of the Branch Manager, hire, terminate, and evaluate all personnel reporting to the department.
- In conjunction with the Branch Manager, establish goals and procedures for the installation staff.
- Take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities of the position, so long as it is consistent with established company policy and sound business judgment.
- Ensure that all members of the installation staff comply with store and company policy, specifically as it relates to the dress code and professional appearance.
- Promote customer relations by ensuring that entire installation staff interacts professionally with customers.
- Ensure that all sub-contractors submit all required paperwork necessary to perform work contracted for by Great Floors.
- Meet regularly with sub-contract installers to review and ensure adherence to procedures which must be followed to perform work for Great Floors.
- Participate in regular staff meetings with other store department heads to monitor and improve store performance.
- Ensure that safety procedures and practices are followed by all members of the installation staff.
- Inspire and coach staff members to react promptly and perform efficiently, reducing overtime to a minimum.
- Follow up with support staff and salespeople to ensure the store operates smoothly and efficiently.
- Maintain a list of qualified installation subcontractors and ensure installers are properly assigned to jobs within their area of competence.
- Conduct regular performance reviews with installation staff members.
- Offer support to staff as often as needed to maintain consistent customer satisfaction.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - A minimum three (3) years installation or equivalent experience required
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Installation supervision experience
- Robust analytical and observational skills to oversee and direct the installation functions.
- Basic Computer Skills needed to review orders, verify inventory, and operate industry specific software required for managing orders, running reports and other tasks as needed.
- Effective Communication Skills to direct, coordinate, and control the activities of personnel and the installation process.
- Strong Interpersonal Skills on the phone and face-to-face to communicate with all customers, installers, associates and other store personnel.
- Knowledgeable in all aspects of the floor covering business including product knowledge and installation.
- Excellent Organizational Skills and Time Management
- Strong Leadership Skills and ability to manage and supervise a diverse group of employees.
- Proficient in typing, data entry and the operation of all required office equipment.

- Standing, walking, sitting, squatting, bending, climbing, reaching, and turning as required to operate equipment, interface with staff and customers, and oversee operations.
- Use of all body senses to perform computer data entry, answer phones, and communicate with staff, customers, installers and vendor representatives.
- Must follow company policy with regard to dress and otherwise maintain a professional appearance.
- Local travel is expected for this position.
