The Sumter County Library System is seeking a full-time Library Associate 3 - Outreach & Programming. The position is based at The Villages Public Library at Pinellas, Wildwood, FL, but provides support for the five libraries located throughout Sumter County. The Library Associate 3-Outreach & Programming is a member of the Operations Team. This position reports to the Librarian Outreach Coordinator. The successful candidate will possess an outgoing nature with excellent communication, presentation and organizational skills, confidently works independently or with groups, and be a passionate advocate for libraries.
Job Status: Full-time - 40 hours per week
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.
· Provide excellent customer service through welcoming customers with a sincere greeting.
· Participates in community outreach and engagement programs with appropriate institutions and community organizations.
· Plans and submits for approval topical, cultural, and entertainment (including virtual) programming system-wide based in accordance with programming guidelines.
· Transport, set up, and tear down outreach displays.
· Follow all legal and policy requirements related to customer privacy and custodianship of customer records.
· Must be able to transport, set up, and tear down outreach displays.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education,
training and/or work experience required.
- Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Must be able to work a schedule that may include a combination of days, evenings, and Saturdays.
- Must have strong customer service skills and ability to work well with diverse populations.
- Must possess and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to follow directions and complete tasks in a timely fashion.
- Must have the ability to travel between library facilities and to community and governmental organizations located in Sumter County.
- Must have valid Florida Driver’s License with current insurance and clean driving record.
- Must possess advanced proficiency using app-based devices, computers, printers, Microsoft Office Suite, and office equipment.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move from place to place within the location; lift, push/pull, hold/carry of items weighing up to (25) pounds and occasional up to (35) pounds such as files, books, stacks of paper, and other materials.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time and to maintain focus on projects such as computer screens or detailed paperwork.
