What Will You Be Doing
The Senior Mitigation Estimator / Leader is responsible for all estimating activities and coordinates with sales and operational teams by establishing a detailed project scope, costs and comprehensive proposal for all construction projects.
Essential Job Functions
- Understands and has experience in restoration and mitigation work in projects ranging from $50k to $15m.
- Understands IICRC work requirements.
- Understands and is proficient in Xactimate and the insurance process.
- Understands and is proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Understands and is proficient in subcontractor/vendor buyout.
- Understands and is proficient with keeping in touch with market costs of labor, materials, etc. throughout Texas and other states we work in.
- Leads the estimating team in producing complete and comprehensive estimates.
- Lead all estimating staff meetings and project estimate review meetings.
- Manage all estimating processes and personnel from start to finish.
- Walk, photograph and scope all types of restoration & renovation projects.
- Inspect buildings and/or job sites to determine scope needed.
- Determines baseline for labor and material requirements.
- Review job specifications, proposed scope of work and existing conditions to determine appropriate construction methods and local code compliance.
- Evaluate construction methods and determine the best cost-effective plan for estimating.
- Coordinate with subcontractor base and Renu operations personnel to determine labor costs.
- Enter costs for labor including sub-contract and turn-key contract prices into Sage 100.
- Coordinate with the Purchasing department on material costs.
- Make sketches or read blueprints to detail work to be accomplished.
- Enter estimates, takeoff and other related notes/information for each bid into Sage 100.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates to Sales for review prior to submitting bids.
- Prepares and reviews detailed scope estimates / proposals as required with customers.
- Perform necessary research to produce accurate scope and competitive pricing.
- Track and analyze data to keep historical cost vs estimated costs.
- Develop and ensure team’s adherence to approved processes and procedures.
- A leader and problem solver with a demonstrated strong work ethic.
- Demonstrated attention to details and time management capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Proven track record and experience with leading an estimating team and is completely self-sufficient within the estimating world of work.
- Operator type that brings a technical sales background.
- Computer skills required: Proficiency with Xactimate, Microsoft Office program (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Smartsheet, Sage and Vista.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, learning and successfully working in multicultural environments.
- Up to 25% of travel and must be able to visit potential job sites.
- Up to 85% of the time spent on computers, reports, etc.
- Travel requirements vary according to client and project locations to orchestrate the mitigation work.
